    • Expected to move to LF
Steer is expected to move to left field once Ty France joins the Reds, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Cincinnati acquired France on Monday and is not yet with the club. He is expected to be the team's primary first baseman. Collectively, the Reds' first baseman are batting .216 (24th in MLB) with a .631 OPS (28th), although that isn't the fault of Steer, who has played 53 games there in 2024. Underperforming players like Christian Encarnacion-Strand (wrist, 60-day IL) and Jeimer Candelario are the main culprits. Bringing in France allows manager David Bell to deploy Steer in left field, which has been another unproductive spot in the lineup. Rotowire.com Today, 4:31 am

    • Homers out of No. 9 slot
Volpe went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and an additional run against the Phillies in Monday's 14-4 victory.

Advice: Volpe batted out of the No. 9 hole for the first time this season, but that didn't seem to effect his approach at the plate. The shortstop built onto a big Yankees lead in the eighth inning, swatting a two-run homer to give the team a seven-run advantage. Volpe has homered three times in his past seven games and is batting .313 (10-for-32) with four RBI over that stretch. Rotowire.com Today, 12:25 am

    • Stumbles against Yankees
Wheeler (10-5) took the loss against the Yankees on Monday, allowing seven runs on seven hits and three walks while striking out six batters over five innings.

Advice: Wheeler fell behind early, giving up three runs on a trio of solo homers over the first two frames. He got through the following two innings without additional damage but then collapsed in the fifth, surrendering four runs on four hits, including a double and a triple. The seven runs were the second-most Wheeler has given up this season, as were the three long balls. He took his first loss since June 16 versus Baltimore, which was also the game in which he gave up season highs with eight runs and four homers. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:50 pm

    • Records 24th steal
Garcia went 2-for-4 with a double, a stolen base and two runs scored in Monday's 8-5 win over the White Sox.

Advice: Since Garcia was dropped from the leadoff spot July 7, he's batting .327 (16-for-49) with three extra-base hits and three steals over 15 contests. He's hit atop the order twice in that span, but has most often batted eighth and occasionally seventh. It appears he's doing more with less, and his speed makes him an interesting fantasy option even without the leadoff gig. Garcia has a career-high 24 steals to go with six home runs, 45 RBI, 64 runs scored, 18 doubles, five triples and a .238/.287/.350 slash line over 104 contests this season. • Enjoys massive day in doubleheader
Westburg went 5-for-8 with a home run, three doubles, four RBI, three runs and a walk against Baltimore across both games of Monday's doubleheader.

Advice: Westburg racked up three doubles in the first game and added a two-run homer int he nightcap, and he accumulated 11 total bases over both contests. The shortstop had been pretty cold coming into the twin bill, batting .167 (4-for-24) over his previous six games. On the season, Westburg is slashing .273/.320/.505 with 18 homers, 25 doubles, five triples, 58 RBI, 54 runs and six stolen bases over 99 contests. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:13 pm

    • Takes sixth loss
Hader (4-6) allowed three runs on a hit and two walks while striking out two over one inning to take the loss Monday versus the Pirates.

Advice: Hader was brought in with the game tied at the start of the ninth inning. He allowed a three-run home run to Michael Taylor, and the Astros weren't able to recover. Hader had a shaky start to July, but he had settled in with a six-inning scoreless streak that ended Monday. He's at a 4.11 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 72:15 K:BB while converting 20 of 21 saves through 46 innings. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:25 pm

    • Jordan Westburg hits two-run homer in defeat
Jordan Westburg went 2-for-3 with a two-run homer and a walk Monday in the second game of a doubleheader against the Blue Jays.

Advice: This after he had three doubles in the first game. Westburg raised his OPS from .799 to .825 today. While there still seems to be a certain skepticism about whether he’s really this good of a hitter, there’s a whole lot to like about his exit velocity numbers, and it’s not hard to imagine him getting even better if he can just lay off a few more sliders. • Snags 19th save
Yates earned the save in Monday's 6-3 victory over the Cardinals, pitching a clean inning with one strikeout.

Advice: The veteran reliever faced the 5-6-7 hitters in the Cardinals lineup, retiring them in order on 19 pitches to secure his 81st career save. Yates has been especially stingy in July so far, firing a 1.80 ERA, 0.80 WHIP and 15:4 K:BB across 10 innings. The Texas All-Star has enjoyed a renaissance season, now sporting a 1.17 ERA, 0.91 WHIP and 53:18 K:BB over 38.1 innings while going a perfect 19-for-19 in save chances. • Picks up 17th steal
Steer went 1-for-4 with a stolen base and a run scored in Monday's 7-1 win over the Cubs.

Advice: Steer continues to impress with his wheels as he doubled and stole third, then came around to score on a wild pitch in the third inning. It's the first time this season that Steer steals a base in back-to-back games. The 26-year-old is on pace for a 20-20 season with 15 homers, 64 RBI and a .756 OPS through 104 games.
