    • Held out again Friday
Lowe (toe) remains out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Nationals.

Advice: Lowe hasn't played since suffering a fractured right pinky toe on June 22. The Rays are facing a lefty in Mitchell Parker on Friday, so Lowe might not have been in the lineup, anyway. If he remains out Saturday against righty Jake Irvin, a stint on the injured list surely will have to be considered. Jose Caballero is at second base Friday. Rotowire.com Today, 12:07 pm

    • Brandon Lowe on bench again Friday
Brandon Lowe (toe) isn’t starting for Friday’s game against the Nationals.

Advice: Lowe hasn’t played since June 22nd after breaking his pinkie toe. He also battled an illness earlier this week. Tampa Bay is also facing a left-hander starter in Mitchell Parker. The Rays haven’t put Lowe on the IL yet so hopefully he can return to the lineup soon. Jose Caballero will get the start at second base and bat seventh on Friday. Rotoworld Today, 12:03 pm

    • Productive in rout
Turner went 1-for-3 with a walk, two runs scored and an RBI in Thursday's win over the Yankees.

Advice: The hit was a fluky one -- he squibbed a ball down the first-base line, and it caromed off the bag and away from Ben Rice rather than rolling foul -- but Turner still put together a productive night in a 9-2 rout. The veteran slugger has found a groove at the plate, going 10-for-25 (.400) over the last eight games with a double, a homer, four RBI, seven runs and an 8:6 BB:K. Despite the surge, Turner's .715 OPS on the season would be his lowest mark since 2013. Rotowire.com Today, 6:56 am

    • Goes deep again Thursday
Guerrero went 2-for-5 with a solo home run, a double, two total runs and two total RBI against the Yankees in a 9-2 win Thursday.

Advice: Guerrero both started and capped the scoring in the contest with an RBI double in the first inning and a solo homer in the sixth. The first baseman recorded his fourth straight multi-hit game, a span in which he's gone 9-for-19 with with three homers and 11 RBI. Guerrero has gone deep four times across his past six games after hitting just seven homers in his first 74 contests of the campaign. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:50 pm
    • Vlad Jr. hits double, home run in win over Yankees
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. went 2-for-5 with two runs scored, a double, a home run and two RBI against the Yankees on Thursday.

Advice: Guerrero Jr. started the scoring with an RBI double in the first inning and his solo home run in the sixth inning gave the Blue Jays a 9-2 lead. • Kyle Tucker (shin) progresses to hitting again
Kyle Tucker (shin) progressed to taking 30 swings off a batting tee earlier this week.

Advice: Tucker is close to resuming running again after landing on the injured list earlier this month with a right shin contusion. It’s a positive sign that he’s progressed to taking some swings again. There isn’t a definitive timetable for his return, but he’s definitely going to need at least a brief minor league rehab assignment before rejoining Houston’s lineup. Rotoworld Yesterday, 4:46 pm

    • Max Scherzer to start on Friday against Orioles
Max Scherzer (thumb) will start on Friday against the Orioles.

Advice: Scherzer came out of his season debut on Sunday with some relatively minor right thumb soreness, but it sounds like he’s ready to roll for his next outing on Friday evening at Camden Yards. The 39-year-old veteran was sharp last weekend in his season debut, striking out four over five scoreless frames against the Royals. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:59 pm
    • Strong results in rehab outing
Williams (elbow) yielded one run on three hits and two walks over four innings in a rehab start with Triple-A Columbus on Thursday.

Advice: Williams wasn't very efficient, needing 82 pitches to cover his four frames. The results were impressive, though, as he struck out six, induced 16 whiffs and gave up just one batted ball hit at 95-plus mph. The Guardians have not confirmed any plans for when Williams' season debut for them will occur, but it could be next week, as soon as Tuesday versus the White Sox. Williams has been on the injured list all season with a right elbow problem. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:02 am

    • Swipes two bags in win
Altuve went 2-for-5 with a run scored, two RBI and two stolen bases in Wednesday's 7-1 win over the Rockies.

Advice: The veteran second baseman pilfered multiple bags in a game for the first time since May 2 while racking up multiple hits for the 11th time in June. Altuve has been on fire this month, batting .333 (30-for-90) in 22 contests with three homers, five steals, 15 runs and 15 RBI. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 4:19 pm
