    • Brenton Doyle homers twice to lead Rockies
      Brenton Doyle homered twice, doubled and walked Monday as the Rockies edged the Brewers 8-7 in 10 innings.

      Advice: Doyle’s second homer tied the game in the bottom of the eighth. The center fielder was dropped from second to seventh in the Rockies lineup before the game, presumably because he’d hit .200/.225/.292 in his previous 16 games. The two homers gave him nine or the year, and he also swiped his 20th base. We’re not big believers in Doyle’s offense from an OPS standpoint, but with Coors Field helping him along, he likely will have lasting value in mixed leagues. Rotoworld 34 minutes ago

      Garrett Mitchell singled and walked in three plate appearances off the bench in his season debut Monday against the Rockies.

      Advice: The Colorado centerfielder opened the game's scoring when he blasted a mammoth 445-foot, two-run homer off Bryse Wilson in the second. Doyle added his 20th stolen base of the season when he nabbed second in the fourth inning. After a rough .203 batting average in his rookie year, the 26-year-old sophomore has become a steady producer in 2024, now hitting .260 with nine homers, 48 runs scored and 30 RBI.       Advice: The New York designated hitter blasted a titanic 420-foot homer off Hunter Harvey in the 10th inning to break the tie. The round tripper was a welcome sight for Martinez, as he entered this contest on a bit of a cold spell, slashing .211/.333/.342 across 47 plate appearances in his previous 10 games with just one homer.       J.D. Martinez hit a three-run homer in the 10th and walked twice Monday as the Mets bested the Nationals 9-7.

      Advice: This was a 3-3 game through nine, but Martinez broke the game open with his homer off Hunter Harvey in the 10th. The Mets went on to score three more times in the frame, which proved important after the Nationals came back with four runs in the bottom of the inning.       Brewers manager Pat Murphy said he’s open to playing Sal Frelick at third base with Garrett Mitchell back, but that he has no immediate plans to do so.

      Advice: Before Mitchell suffered a fractured finger at the very end of the spring, it looked like the Brewers would mostly play Mitchell in center and Frelick at third, with Joey Ortiz serving as a utilityman. Ortiz, though, has earned regular playing time, and Frelick has totaled just four innings at third base since the season started.       Brewers manager Pat Murphy said Monday that using Frelick at third base is a possibility following the return of Garrett Mitchell, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

      Advice: Frelick had been in line for regular reps at the hot corner before Mitchell was hurt late in spring training. However, with Joey Ortiz having since established himself at third base, it sounds like Frelick seeing action there won't be a priority.
