• Orelvis Martinez stays hot with solo homer at AAA
Blue Jays INF prospect Orelvis Martinez went 2-for-5 with a solo homer on Thursday for Triple-A Buffalo.

Advice: Martinez is off to a hot start so far, batting .305 (18-for-59) with three homers and 11 RBI through 15 games. Perhaps the most impressive element of his early-season performance is that he’s cut back on the strikeouts, fanning just 13 times in 64 plate appearances. If he’s able to sustain this run, he could finally make his Toronto debut at some point in the near future. Rotoworld Today, 6:20 pm

  • Shuttled to Las Vegas
Hernaiz was optioned to Triple-A Las Vegas on Thursday, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Hernaiz had started seven of the last eight games for the Athletics, though he went just 3-for-20 with six strikeouts in that span. It's very likely that he'll be back in the majors at some point in 2024, though there's no indication of how long the team plans to keep him in the minors. The move should give Nick Allen the starting job at shortstop while creating a roster spot for Brent Rooker (ribs) to be activated off the injured list. Rotowire.com Today, 6:12 pm

  • A’s option struggling Darell Hernaiz to Triple-A
Athletics optioned SS Darell Hernaiz to Triple-A Las Vegas.

Advice: There isn’t exactly a starting spot for Hernaiz in the majors with Nick Allen finally back to full strength, so he’s headed back to the minors to continue playing everyday ahead of Friday’s series opener against the Guardians. The 22-year-old prospect was batting .103 (3-for-29) with two RBI in 17 games for Oakland in his first taste of the big leagues. Rotoworld Today, 5:05 pm

  • Optioned to Iowa
The Cubs optioned Mastrobuoni to Triple-A Iowa on Thursday, Taylor McGregor of Marquee Sports Network reports.

Advice: Mastrobuoni was able to crack the Opening Day roster with Patrick Wisdom on the injured list before the season began. He appeared in just eight games and only reached base once on a walk across 13 plate appearances. In a corresponding move, Patrick Wisdom was activated from the 10-day injured list. • Back from IL
The Cubs activated Wisdom (back) from the 10-day injured list Thursday, Taylor McGregor of Marquee Sports Network reports.

Advice: Wisdom went to the injured list just before Opening Day and was able to begin a rehab assignment at Triple-A Iowa on April 6. During the assignment, the 32-year-old appeared in nine games and went 11-for-27 with three home runs across 36 plate appearances. Miles Mastrobuoni was optioned to Triple-A Iowa in a corresponding move. Rotowire.com Today, 3:46 pm

  • Cubs activate Patrick Wisdom for Friday return
Cubs activated INF Patrick Wisdom from the 10-day injured list.

Advice: Wisdom rejoins Chicago’s crowded infield mix ahead of Friday’s series opener against the Marlins after missing the first three weeks of the season recovering from a back strain that he suffered during spring training. He figures to split time at the hot corner with Christopher Morel since Michael Busch has gotten off to such a strong start over at first base. Rotoworld Today, 3:45 pm

  • Cubs option Miles Mastrobuoni to Triple-A
Cubs optioned INF/OF Miles Mastrobuoni to Triple-A Iowa.

Advice: Mastrobuoni has been shipped back to the minors with Patrick Wisdom returning from the injured list to take his spot on Chicago’s bench. The 28-year-old’s defensive versatility is a nice feature for the Cubs, but he’s gone 0-for-12 at the dish this season, and is a career .217 hitter in the majors. Rotoworld Today, 3:42 pm

  • MRI on Rafael Devers’ knee reveals bone bruise
Rafael Devers is day-to-day with a left knee bone bruise.

Advice: Red Sox manager Alex Cora added that he doesn’t think Devers will require a trip to the injured list. It’s an extremely encouraging development for Boston, and fantasy managers, after a precautionary MRI on Thursday confirmed that Devers isn’t dealing with any major structural damage in his left knee. The 27-year-old fantasy superstar will likely require a few additional days off to rest and recover, but doesn’t appear to be facing an extended absence. Rotoworld Today, 1:47 pm

  • MRI reveals bone bruise
Imaging on Devers' left knee revealed a bone bruise Thursday, Gabrielle Starr of the Boston Herald reports.

Advice: Manager Alex Cora said Devers will be viewed as day-to-day going forward, and a trip to the injured list isn't expected. Devers was removed from Tuesday's game due to his injury and attempted to play through it Wednesday, but the results of his MRI will presumably keep him out of the lineup for multiple games. Pablo Reyes will start at third base Thursday and will likely continue to do so while the All-Star infielder is sidelined. Rotowire.com Today, 1:37 pm
