    • Placed on 15-day IL
Romano was placed on the 15-day injured list Saturday, retroactive to May 30, with right elbow inflammation, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Advice: Romano was unavailable for Friday's 5-3 victory over the Pirates due to right elbow soreness and he'll now be forced to miss a couple weeks of action while nursing the injury. The 31-year-old produced a 9.00 ERA and 1.88 WHIP over eight innings, while suffering a blown save and being tagged with a pair of losses in nine appearances with Toronto in May, so the time off could serve as a reset button for him. In the meantime, left-hander Brendon Little was called up from Triple-A Buffalo on Saturday to replace him on the major-league roster. In Romano's absence, Yimi Garcia and Chad Green are a pair of candidates to absorb the ninth-inning role. Rotowire.com Today, 10:04 am

    • Blue Jays put closer Jordan Romano (elbow) on IL
Blue Jays placed RHP Jordan Romano on the 15-day injured list with right elbow inflammation.

Advice: Romano heads to the injured list after being unavailable Friday due to elbow soreness. The 31-year-old stopper underwent an MRI on Friday that didn’t reveal any structural damage, which is an encouraging development. There should be a clearer timetable for his return at some point in the coming days once he’s cleared to resume throwing. Fantasy managers should anticipate him missing at least a few weeks. It’ll most likely be Yimi García or Chad Green taking over as Toronto’s temporary closer for now. Rotoworld Today, 9:50 am

    • Breather Saturday
Renfroe is not in the starting lineup Saturday against the Padres.

Advice: Renfroe will get a breather after he went 2-for-4 with a double and a strikeout in the team's 11-8 loss in Friday's series opener. Nelson Velazquez will slot in at right field while Freddy Fermin enters the lineup at catcher after some shuffling, batting eighth versus San Diego. Rotowire.com Today, 9:34 am

    • Converts 12th save
Munoz allowed a hit and struck out two in a scoreless inning to earn the save in Friday's 5-4 win over the Angels.

Advice: Munoz's scoreless streak is up to six innings, and he allowed just one run over 13.1 innings in May while converting all seven of his save chances during the month. The closer is 12-for-13 in save chances this year. He's been hard to hit with a 1.42 ERA, 0.91 WHIP and 35:8 K:BB over 25.1 innings as the Mariners' top ninth-inning option. Munoz needs one more save to match his career high from last year. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:48 pm
    • Andrés Muñoz locks down 12th save of season
Andrés Muñoz fired a scoreless ninth with two strikeouts to pick up a save Friday against the Angels.

Advice: Muñoz needed just 15 pitches to get through the outing with 11 of them going for strikes. The right-hander has been absolutely dominant as of late with a 1.42 ERA and 12 saves for his troubles. To say he’s not in danger of giving up his closing gig is quite the understatement. • Logs steal in win
Freeman went 2-for-4 with one RBI, one stolen base and one run scored in Friday's 7-1 win over the Nationals.

Advice: Freeman had been leading off over the last couple of weeks, but that should be done with Steven Kwan (hamstring) returning from the injured list Friday. Freeman was second in the order Friday against southpaw Patrick Corbin, but he'll likely bat lower against right-handers moving forward. Freeman's steal was his second in five games and his eighth of the campaign. He's still at a mediocre .223/.317/.354 slash line with four home runs, 22 RBI, 32 runs scored and 11 doubles over 203 plate appearances overall, but he's hit .295 (18-for-61) over his last 16 contests. • Yields three runs in no-decision
Cease did not factor into the decision in Friday's 11-8 win over the Royals, allowing three runs on five hits and one walk over 5.1 innings. He struck out five.

Advice: Despite generating 16 whiffs out of his 98 total pitches, Cease managed to strike out only five, tying a season low also reached May 20 against Atlanta and April 27 against Philadelphia. The Padres ace was cruising through five innings, allowing just two baserunners; however, he unraveled in a 25-pitch sixth inning, allowing four baserunners and departing with just one out. Cease's ERA stands at 3.42 with 87:21 K:BB in 71 innings this season. He is tentatively slated to face the Angels on the road in his next start. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:14 pm
    • Dylan Cease surrenders three runs to Royals
Dylan Cease allowed three runs over 5 1/3 innings in a no-decision against the Royals on Friday.

Advice: Cease was pretty great to begin the year, posting a 2.19 ERA in his first eight starts, but this makes four straight outings that have missed the quality-start threshold. On the plus side, his peripherals have remained pretty strong during the downturn. There isn’t much reason to think this will last. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:00 pm
    • Nursing sore elbow
Romano wasn't available for Friday's game against the Pirates due to elbow soreness, Scott Mitchell of TSN.ca reports.

Advice: Manager John Schneider said Romano's elbow has not recovered properly following his last outing Wednesday against the White Sox. The team is officially labeling his injury as "soreness" for now, but the Jays should have a better idea of what Romano is dealing with ahead of Saturday's contest. The 31-year-old righty has not looked like his usual self this season, posting a 6.59 ERA and 1.46 WHIP across 13.2 innings. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:28 pm
