    • Surrenders four runs in defeat
      Bassitt (7-7) took the loss against Houston on Thursday, allowing four runs on eight hits and four walks while striking out three batters over five innings.

      Advice: Bassitt got off to a terrible start in allowing six of the first seven batters he faced to reach base, resulting in three Astros runs. The veteran hurler bounced back to give up just one more run over the remainder of his five frames, but the first-inning damage was enough to send him to his seventh loss of the season. Bassitt had been rolling coming into Thursday, posting a 1.41 ERA across his previous five starts, and the four runs he yielded against Houston were his most since he gave up seven runs against the Dodgers on April 26. Bassitt's overall numbers this season have been pretty much in line with what fantasy managers have come to expect from him -- he has a 3.43 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 94:41 K:BB across 102.1 frames.       Valdez (7-5) earned the win over Toronto on Thursday, allowing three runs on nine hits and two walks while striking out four batters over six innings.

      Advice: It looked like Valdez could be in for a rough outing when five of the first six batters he faced got a hit, resulting in three runs. However, the left-hander got out of that frame without incurring additional damage, and he went on to complete six frames without surrendering any more runs. Eight of the nine hits Valdez allowed overall were singles, which was key in limiting damage, as Toronto hit into four double plays against him.       Jeffers went 3-for-4 with a two-run home run, an RBI double, an RBI single and an additional run scored during Thursday's 12-3 win over the Tigers.

      Advice: Although Thursday's contest was rained out after seven innings, Jeffers and the Twins' offense had no trouble putting up runs. Jeffers drove in four of those runs, highlighted by a two-run home run off Kenta Maeda in the fourth inning. Jeffers' roundtripper was his 15th of the year which is a career-high tally.       Advice: He was also hit by a pitch in the seventh on what proved to be the last play in a rain-shortened game. Jeffers had a great first month and a half, followed by a bad second month and a half; he came into this one batting .157/.252/.269 since May 15.       Advice: Goldschmidt had two hits and a steal in Wednesday's contest, and with another swipe Thursday, it became the 13th time in his career he's recorded stolen bases in back-to-back games. The 2022 NL MVP got off to a rough start this season with two home runs and .530 OPS through 37 games, but he's turned it around nicely since the middle of May.       Chris Bassitt went five innings while allowing four runs in a loss to the Astros on Thursday.

      Advice: Bassitt, 35, gave up eight hits, walked four and struck out three. Most of the damage was done early, as he gave up three runs in the first inning before settling down. The right-hander had allowed just three total earned runs over his last two starts, so it goes without saying this outing — while not horrific — didn’t keep that good run going.       Framber Valdez allowed three runs over six innings in a win over the Blue Jays on Thursday.

      Advice: Valdez gave up nine hits and walked two while striking out four. The overall line isn’t great, but it’s worth pointing out that he gave up all three runs in the first inning before settling down over the final five.
