    • Gabriel Moreno diagnosed with sprained left thumb
The Diamondbacks announced that Gabriel Moreno was removed from Friday’s game due to a sprained left thumb.

Advice: The severity of the sprain — and how much time (if any) that Moreno may miss — remain up in the air. Tucker Barnhart replaced him in Friday’s contest against the Phillies and would be in line for increased run behind the plate if Moreno is forced to miss any substantial time. • Leaves game with sprained thumb
Moreno exited Friday's game against the Phillies due to a sprained left thumb.

Advice: Tucker Barnhart replaced Moreno behind home plate for the bottom of the sixth inning. Before exiting, Moreno went 2-for-3 with a two-run home run in the top of the third inning. Clarity on the severity of Moreno's injury will be known following Friday's contest. Rotowire.com 49 minutes ago

    • Gabriel Moreno exits Friday with apparent injury
Gabriel Moreno was removed from Friday’s game against the Phillies due to an apparent injury.

Advice: No word yet on exactly what happened here, but the 24-year-old backstop was replaced by Tucker Barnhart when the Diamondbacks took the field in the sixth inning. Earlier in the game, Moreno crushed the hardest hit ball of his career — a titanic 433-foot (104.6 mph EV) blast to center field. Stay tuned, as the Diamondbacks should have an update on his status shortly. Rotoworld 53 minutes ago

    • Returning to Arlington
Jung (wrist) was pulled from his rehab assignment Friday to be evaluated in Arlington before the Rangers decide whether or not to activate him this weekend, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Advice: Jung went 4-for-17 in four rehab games with Triple-A Round Rock and could be cleared to rejoin the Rangers' active roster this weekend. The third baseman hasn't played since fracturing his wrist on April 1 and was initially expected to receive roughly 30 at-bats in the minor leagues before being reinstated. Josh Smith and Ezequiel Duran have been handling most of the third base work during Jung's absence. Rotowire.com Today, 2:33 pm

    • Jeimer Candelario (tendinitis) returns to lineup
Jeimer Candelario (tendinitis) returned to the Reds’ starting lineup on Friday night.

Advice: Candelario was pulled from Tuesday’s game due to general fatigue and tendinitis and then sat out Wednesday’s game as a precautionary measure. He’s feeling much improved after a couple of days off though and is back in there as the Reds’ designated hitter on Friday night. He’ll bat third against Kutter Crawford and the Red Sox. • Bryson Stott sits against southpaw on Friday night
Bryson Stott is not in the Phillies’ starting lineup for Friday night’s showdown against the Diamondbacks.

Advice: With left-hander Jordan Montgomery toeing the slab for the Diamondbacks, the Phillies will use it as an opportunity to give Stott a breather. Fellow left-handed hitters Brandon Marsh, David Dahl and Garrett Stubbs also find themselves on the pine for the start of this one. Edmundo Sosa will start in Stott’s place at second base and will bat sixth for the Phillies on Friday night. Rotoworld Today, 1:02 pm

    • Back in lineup
Candelario is batting third and the designated hitter for Friday's game against Boston.

Advice: Candelario had been battling unspecified tendinitis the past few days and missed the Reds' most recent game. However, he'll be back in action Friday, claiming DH duties. Rotowire.com Today, 12:24 pm

    • Returns to lineup
Chisholm (hamstring) will start in center field and bat leadoff in Friday's game against the Mariners.

Advice: Chisholm was a late scratch from Wednesday's lineup due to a tight right hamstring, but it will be just a one-game absence as he's feeling well enough to give it a go after Thursday's off day for the Marlins. He enters play Friday having slashed .394/.447/.636 over his last 10 games. Rotowire.com Today, 12:15 pm
    • Out of Arizona lineup
Moreno is out of the lineup for Thursday's game versus the Nationals.

Advice: Moreno started behind the plate each of the last four contests but will get some rest for Thursday's afternoon game. Tucker Barnhart will draw the start at catcher, forming a battery with pitcher Ryne Nelson. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 6:20 am
