    • Fernando Tatis Jr. has three hits, HR in victory
Fernando Tatis Jr. homered and went 3-for-4 in a 7-3 win for the Padres over the Angels on Saturday.

Advice: Tatis Jr. got the party started for the Padres with a solo homer in the first inning off Alec Marsh. The 25-year-old also singled twice and drew a walk for a four-reach day. Tatis hasn’t been spectacular in the first 60-plus games of the season, but he’s up to 10 homers, 30 RBI and six stolen bases with a .772 OPS. It’d be surprising if those number didn’t shoot up over the next few months, if not weeks. Rotoworld Yesterday, 4:52 pm

    • Three hits, homer vs. Royals
Tatis went 3-for-4 with a walk and a solo home run in Saturday's 7-3 win over Kansas City.

Advice: Tatis opened the scoring in the first inning with a 422-foot solo shot off Alec Marsh, his 10th homer of the season. The 25-year-old Tatis has at least one hit in his last seven games, going 11-for-29 (.379) in that span. He's now slashing .261/.340/.433 with 38 runs scored, 30 RBI and six stolen bases across 268 plate appearances this year. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 4:36 pm

    • Sitting again Saturday
Busch isn't in the Cubs' lineup for Saturday's game against the Reds.

Advice: Busch is 4-for-13 with a homer, three RBI and two runs scored in his last six games, but he is likely to see a dip in playing time, as Pete Crow-Armstrong's arrival will force Cody Bellinger to start at first base more often. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 2:07 pm

    • Back in lineup Saturday
Varsho (illness) will start in center field and bat second Saturday versus the Pirates.

Advice: Varsho will return to the lineup after missing Friday's 5-3 win due to food poisoning. The 27-year-old has struggled to a .157 average with seven extra-base hits, including four homers, over his last 18 contests. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:55 am

    • Breather Saturday
McCormick is not in the starting lineup Saturday against the Twins.

Advice: McCormick will head to the bench after he went 0-for-3 with three strikeouts in Friday's 6-1 loss to Minnesota. Mauricio Dubon will take over in left field and bat seventh Saturday. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:14 am
    • Fans six in fifth win
Houck (5-5) picked up the win Friday, allowing one run on three hits and two walks over seven innings in a 7-3 victory over the Tigers. He struck out six.

Advice: The 27-year-old right-hander generated 30 called or swinging strikes among his 95 pitches as he delivered his third straight quality start and 10th in 12 trips to the mound this season. Houck is having a breakout campaign, and he'll take a 1.85 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 75:15 K:BB through 78 innings into his next outing, which is scheduled to come on the road next week against the White Sox. • Hit hard in Friday's loss
Maeda (2-2) took the loss Friday as the Tigers fell 7-3 to the Red Sox, coughing up five runs on eight hits and two walks over 4.2 innings. He struck out six.

Advice: It could have been a lot worse for the veteran right-hander. While five of the eight hits he surrendered went for extra bases, three of them were doubles high off the Green Monster that nearly left Fenway Park completely. Maeda took a big step back after blanking the Blue Jays over five innings in his first start off the IL back on May 24, but Friday's performance was more in line with his 2024 campaign so far. Maeda will take a 6.25 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and 30:12 K:BB through 40.1 innings into his next outing, which lines up to come on the road next week against the Rangers. • Chas McCormick strikes out three times
Chas McCormick fanned all three times he was up Friday versus the Twins.

Advice: The Astros have decided that José Abreu’s pre-2023 track record matters more than McCormick’s impressive 2023 output and have thus started McCormick just twice in the last six games. We think that’s probably the wrong call, but at the same time, McCormick has not, in any way, resembled the threat he was last year. We still think the Astros should give him a few weeks of regular playing time to see if he can bounce back, but we’re not especially optimistic that he would take advantage of said opportunity.
