• Cody Bellinger takes N.L. Comeback POY honors
Cody Bellinger was named as the Comeback Player of the Year in the National League for the 2023 season.

Advice: The 28-year-old superstar bet on himself — taking a one-year deal with the Cubs after several disappointing seasons to end his Dodgers’ tenure — and that gamble paid off in a big way as he slashed an outstanding .307/.356/.525 with 26 long balls, 95 runs scored, 97 RBI and 20 stolen bases across 556 plate appearances in his 130 games. He’s expected to land an extremely lucrative multi-year contract this winter — with MLBTradeRumors.com projecting that he’ll wind up in the neighborhood of 12 years and $264 million. • Dropped from 40-man roster
Haseley was designated for assignment by the White Sox on Tuesday, LaMond Pope of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Advice: This move clears out a 40-man roster spot for Paul DeJong, whose one-year, $1.75 million agreement with Chicago has now been made official. Haseley, 27, slashed just .222/.282/.278 over 39 major-league plate appearances in 2023 and also had underwhelming numbers with Triple-A Charlotte. Rotowire.com Today, 8:09 am

  • White Sox designate OF Adam Haseley for assignment
White Sox designated OF Adam Haseley for assignment.

Advice: Haseley has been removed from Chicago’s 40-man roster to make room for newly-signed veteran infielder Paul DeJong. The 27-year-old former former top-10 overall pick from the 2017 MLB Draft got into 28 games this past season for the White Sox. He’ll likely be able to latch on somewhere else this offseason as a bench outfielder. Rotoworld Today, 8:08 am

  • Brewers sign OF Brewer Hicklen to minors contract
Brewers signed OF Brewer Hicklen to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.

Advice: It’s fitting that Brewer wound up in Milwaukee at some point during his career. Hicklen got into six contests for the Royals during the 2022 campaign and split last year between the Royals and Phillies at the Triple-A level, slashing .236/.350/.455 with 10 homers and 21 steals across 286 plate appearances in 72 games. The 27-year-old represents valuable organizational outfield depth heading into the 2024 season. Rotoworld Today, 7:54 am

  • Receives NRI from Brewers
Hicklen signed a minor-league contract with the Brewers on Tuesday, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

Advice: He's been given an invitation to spring training as part of the deal. Hicklen received a cup of coffee in the majors with the Royals in 2022 but spent all of 2023 at the Triple-A level between the Kansas City and Philadelphia organizations, posting an .804 OPS. He'll compete for a reserve outfielder job this spring but is likely headed to Triple-A Nashville. Rotowire.com Today, 7:52 am

  • White Sox sign Paul DeJong to one-year contract
White Sox signed INF Paul DeJong to a one-year, $1.75 million contract.

Advice: The 30-year-old infielder also has the potential to earn an additional $250,000 in incentives — $150,000 for reaching 400 plate appearances and an additional $100,000 for eclipsing 500 plate appearances. DeJong hit a paltry .207/.258/.355 with 14 long balls and 38 RBI across 400 plate appearances with the Cardinals, Giants and Blue Jays in 2023. He should function as the White Sox’ regular shortstop against left-handed pitching, but he’ll have to fight for additional at-bats beyond that. Rotoworld Yesterday, 4:26 pm

  • Reaches deal to stay in L.A.
Heyward agreed Monday with the Dodgers on a one-year, $9 million contract, Kiley McDaniel of ESPN.com reports.

Advice: Heyward and the Dodgers will run it back after he was surprisingly productive in 2023, slashing .269/.340/.473 with 15 home runs and 40 RBI over 377 plate appearances. His .813 OPS this past season was his highest mark since 2012, excluding the pandemic-shortened 2020 campaign. The 34-year-old should fill a similar role again in 2024, starting in right field against righties while occasionally filling in as a center fielder. The Dodgers' decision to bring back Heyward also means that Mookie Betts will continue to see more action at second base. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:07 am

  • Report: Dodgers set to re-sign Jason Heyward
The Dodgers are close to re-signing free ageny outfielder Jason Heyward to a one-year contract, ESPN’s Kiley McDaniel reports.

Advice: It’s a $9 million deal. After a miserable final two years in Chicago, Heyward had a terrific 2023 as a part-timer for the Dodgers, hitting .269/.340/.473 in 377 plate appearances. He’ll probably step in for David Peralta as the team’s primary left fielder against right-handers. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:00 am

  • Nabs MiLB deal from Oakland
Park signed a minor-league deal with the Athletics on Nov. 20.

Advice: Park has previously seen action in 68 games in the majors with the Yankees and Pirates but spent the 2023 season exclusively at the Triple-A level in Atlanta's organization. Over 384 plate appearances with Gwinnett, Park slashed .262/.385/.379 with six home run and 17 stolen base. Park could have a better chance to resurface in the majors with an Athletics squad coming off a 112-loss season, but he's still more likely to open the 2024 campaign at Triple-A Las Vegas.
