    • Zack Gelof picks up three hits, steal in victory
Zack Gelof stole a base and went 3-for-4 in a win over the Diamondbacks on Friday.

Advice: Gelof also scored two runs and drew a walk for a big fantasy night for the second-year 24-year-old. One of the hits was a triple — his second of the season — and his steal gives him nine of the season. it’s nice to see some success for Gelof as a reminder that there’s some long-term potential in his bat, as a .205/.259/.352 slash doesn’t exactly scream fantasy upside. • Alex Cobb (shoulder) to make rehab start on Sunday
Alex Cobb (shoulder) will make his first minor league rehab start at Single-A San Jose on Sunday.

Advice: The 36-year-old hurler has missed the entire season thus far while recovering from a shoulder injury. He’s going to need several minor league rehab starts to build back up before he’s an option to join the Giants’ rotation, but it’s nice to see him finally taking strides in that direction. • Set for rehab outing Sunday
Minter (hip) is scheduled to pitch for Triple-A Gwinnett on Sunday, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Sunday's appearance could be Minter's last before being activated from the 15-day injured list. While he's allowed two runs (one earned) across two minor-league innings, he's only surrendered one hit. Prior to being placed on the IL, Minter turned in a 2.95 ERA and a 23:6 K:BB across 21.1 innings with Atlanta. Rotowire.com Friday, 1:33 pm
    • Departs 40-man roster
The Reds designated Burdick for assignment Friday.

Advice: Burdick was claimed off waivers by Cincinnati on April 24 but was never called up to the big-league roster. He slashed .180/.279/.327 across 172 plate appearances with Triple-A Louisville and will likely remain in the Reds' organization if he clears waivers. Austin Wynns will take Burdick's spot on the 40-man roster. Rotowire.com Friday, 1:06 pm
    • Reds designate OF Peyton Burdick for assignment
Reds designated OF Peyton Burdick for assignment.

Advice: Burdick was hitting just .190/.298/.361 in 43 games for Triple-A Louisville after opening the season with the Orioles’ Triple-A affiliate and hitting .182/.333/.455 there. He still has impressive power, but it doesn’t look like it’ll ever make up for his contact issues. Rotoworld Friday, 1:00 pm
    • Eddie Rosario returns to Nationals lineup Friday
Eddie Rosario is back in the Nationals’ starting lineup as the DH and No. 5 hitter on Friday.

Advice: Rosario sat against a righty on Wednesday, and with the announcement that fellow left-handed hitter James Wood is coming up Monday, Rosario seems like the obvious choice to get bumped from the Nationals roster. Until that’s official, though, it looks like he’ll get a chance to show he’s worth keeping around. Rosario has a dreadful .181/.226/.330 line this season, but it actually comes with the best hard-hit rate of his career at 45.5%. His average exit velocity of 90.6 mph is 2.5 mph better than his career mark. Rotoworld Friday, 12:28 pm

    • Out of Thursday's lineup
Jansen isn't in the Blue Jays' lineup Thursday against the Yankees.

Advice: Jansen broke an 0-for-12 skid with a double during Wednesday's victory, and he'll now get a breather for Thursday's series opener. Alejandro Kirk will start behind the dish and bat eighth. Rotowire.com Thursday, 1:00 pm

    • Alex Cobb will throw a bullpen on Friday
According to the San Francisco Chronicle’s Shayna Rubin, Alex Cobb (shoulder) will throw a bullpen on Friday.

Advice: Cobb has been out all season with a shoulder injury. He had been nearing a return before pausing his throwing program in the middle of May. He’s now ramping back up again and, if all goes well on Friday, he will have a rehab assignment with Triple-A San Jose after.

    • Rehab assignment coming
Cobb (hip/shoulder) will throw a bullpen session Friday and could begin a rehab assignment with Single-A San Jose afterward if everything goes smoothly, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Advice: Cobb has been trending in the right direction since being shut down in May due to soreness in his right (throwing) shoulder. However, he still needs to build back up to a starter's workload after spending all season on the injured list, so he likely won't return to the Giants' rotation until after the All-Star break.
