    • Yields four runs
Ragans (7-7) allowed four runs on eight hits and a walk over 5.2 innings Sunday, striking out seven and taking a loss against the Cubs.

Advice: Ragans gave up a pair of runs in the third inning followed by two more in the sixth. He took his first loss since June 29 and broke a three-game streak of quality starts. However, he forced 17 whiffs Sunday, including 11 with his changeup. Ragans is sporting a 3.37 ERA with a 153:41 K:BB through 22 starts this season. His next outing is expected to be in Detroit. • Bogaerts homers in loss
Xander Bogaerts went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in a loss to the Orioles on Sunday.

Advice: Bogey has been on fire since coming off the IL, but this is his first home run since fracturing his shoulder, which is good to see. He didn’t get cheated either with a 400-foot shot that left the bat at 106.2 mph. He still has yet to steal a base since coming back from his injury and that was a huge part of his fantasy success last year, so managers should keep an eye on that going forward. • Cole Ragans hit hard by Cubs
Cole Ragans surrendered eight hits and four earned runs in 5 2/3 innings on Sunday against the Cubs. He struck out seven and walked one in defeat.

Advice: Ragans did not have his best stuff in this one. He still struck plenty of batters out and forced 17 swings-and-misses, but his fastball and slider each allowed more damage than we’re used to seeing. Even more worrisome, his velocity still has not bounced back to where it was before July. This was his fourth start out of five where his fastball did not average 95 MPH. He only had one such start all season before June 29th. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:21 pm

    • Taking seat Sunday
Marte is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Pirates.

Advice: Marte will receive Sunday off after a string of 10 straight starts, a stretch in which he posted a .405/.478/.838 slash line with five home runs and 16 RBI. Kevin Newman will receive a look at the keystone in the series finale versus Pittsburgh. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 1:04 pm

    • Sitting for series finale
Springer is not in the starting lineup for Sunday's series finale against the Rangers.

Advice: Springer will get a breather Sunday after going 3-for-10 with two stolen bases and two runs scored in the first two games of the series. Since the beginning of July, Springer is slashing .272/.322/.531 with five home runs, 15 RBI and 15 runs scored across 87 plate appearances. Addison Barger will start in right field and bat seventh against Rangers right-hander Jon Gray. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:32 am

    • Another long ball in win
Marte went 1-for-3 with a home run, three RBI and two runs scored while also drawing a walk in Saturday's win over the Pirates.

Advice: Marte kept his hot streak going Saturday, drawing a walk in his first trip to the plate before coming around to score Arizona's first run of the contest on a Christian Walker single. The second baseman then came right back with a two-run shot on the first pitch he saw in the second, giving him his fourth home run in his last five games. Over that stretch he's batting .444 (8-for-18) with 11 RBI and seven runs scored. Saturday also marked his fifth game this month in which he's driven in multiple runs. • Goes yard Saturday
Diaz went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Saturday's 4-0 win over the Reds.

Advice: He went back-to-back with Alex Jackson off Andrew Abbott to lead off the fifth inning, breaking open a 1-0 game. While the homer was only the ninth of the year for Diaz, a disappointing total after he slugged a career-high 22 last season, he has been supplying more power in July, slashing .278/.328/.481 through 13 games on the month. The 32-year-old is on an affordable contract that pays him $10 million in 2025 with a $12 million club option for 2026, but with the Rays in sell mode at the trade deadline and a number of contenders in need of help at first base, Diaz could be the next player to go. • Tops 50 pitches
Verlander (neck) threw more than 50 pitches in his bullpen session Saturday, MLB.com reports.

Advice: The exact number of pitches wasn't reported, but this was a step forward from his last session July 20 when he threw 40 pitches. It's expected that Verlander will return from the injured list in the upcoming week, though the team's exact plans are unclear. Rotowire.com Saturday, 11:33 pm

    • Picks up fourth win
Hader (4-5) didn't allow a baserunner across a scoreless ninth inning to earn the win Saturday against the Dodgers.

Advice: Hader entered the game in the ninth inning with the score tied at 6-6. He retired the side on only nine pitches to turn in his sixth consecutive scoreless appearance. This was also Hader's first win since May 21. Rotowire.com Saturday, 11:11 pm
