      Advice: Abrams has rattled off three hits in four of his last five games, and he's added three steals, three RBI and eight runs scored in that span. The shortstop's sizzling stretch has him up to a .283/.335/.507 slash line through 71 contests. His .842 OPS is his highest mark since May 12.       Profar went 1-for-3 with a grand slam, a hit-by-pitch and an additional run scored in Tuesday's 9-7 win over the Nationals.

      Advice: Profar gave the Padres the extra cushion they ultimately needed when he slugged a grand slam in the sixth inning. The Nationals attempted a comeback but fell short. After a brief absence with a knee injury over the weekend, Profar has resumed his hot hitting --he's 10-for-36 (.278) with nine RBI during his nine-game hitting streak.     • Jurickson Profar hits grand slam in Padres’ win
      Jurickson Profar hit a grand slam Tuesday in the Padres’ 9-7 takedown of the Nationals.

      Advice: This game had a little bit of everything, including a benches-clearing incident, a manager ejection, some extended player admiration of home runs, ugly defense, boneheaded baserunning and 16 runs in all. What it didn’t have was strikeouts; the teams totaled just five, and Nationals hitters went the first eight innings without any at all. Profar, coming off a walkoff hit Monday, was involved in the early confrontation that emptied the dugouts and then immediately was hit by a pitch after warnings were issued. Immediately after that, he scored on a Manny Machado homer. His slam, a line-drive homer down the right field line, was the fourth of his career.     • CJ Abrams reaches five times in loss to Padres
      CJ Abrams went 3-for-3 with two walks Tuesday against the Padres.

      Advice: It’s too bad this netted Abrams only one run and one RBI, even though the Nationals scored seven times. Unfortunately, the play from Abrams in this game that everyone will see was him being thrown out after lazily going back to first base following a single. He was also picked off first base in the game. He later appeared to have a stolen base, only to wind up getting sent back to first base because the umpire interfered with the catcher’s throw.     • Nabs two bags in loss
      Garcia went 0-for-2 with two steals, two walks and one run scored in Tuesday's loss to the Marlins.

      Advice: Garcia drew a second consecutive start at the keystone and stole two bases in the first inning after leading off with a walk. The 24-year-old has struggled mightily in June as he entered the contest slashing .145/.211/.169 with no homers and four steals across 90 plate appearances. The Kansas City infield became more crowded with CJ Alexander debuting and Michael Massey (back) returning from the injured list Monday, so Garcia will have to start producing at the plate and on the basepaths to maintain a starting role.     • Cole: velocity dip versus Mets intentional
      Gerrit Cole said after Tuesday’s start that he’s healthy and that he intentionally dialed back his velocity tonight after a long first inning.

      Advice: Cole topped out at 98.9 mph in the first tonight, but he was often throwing 92-93 mph in the second. He did pick it up some in the end, throwing his final fastball 95.3 mph, but it was an awfully discouraging performance. It’s good to know he doesn’t think he’s hurt, though.     • Cole allows four home runs in loss
      Gerrit Cole allowed six runs on seven hits in four innings in a loss to the Mets on Tuesday.

      Advice: There’s a fair amount to be concerned about here. The Yankees ace walked four and struck out nobody on the day. His fastball sat 95.4 mph on the day which was down 1.3 mph from his first start. He hit 98 mph in the first inning but by the third inning, he threw only four fastballs and just one was over 94 mph. Home runs hit by Mark Vientos and Harrison Bader were on fastballs that were 91.5 and 93.2 mph. Given that Cole’s elbow injury to start the year involved some nerve issues, there’s a concern that there remains a lingering impact on Cole’s health or performance. It could also just be one bad start, but this is the second outing of his career that he did not strike out any batters and the other was on May 20, 2016, so it’s certainly a performance we want to take note of.     • Devers homers in loss to Blue Jays
      Rafael Devers went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in a loss to the Blue Jays on Tuesday.

      Advice: Devers’ home run was an absolute shot, traveling 467 feet at 111.2 mph. He also had a 112.6 mph double later in the game. The Red Sox star now has 16 home runs and 42 RBI to go along with a .285/.368/.559 slash line. It’s shaping up to be another tremendous season for the 27-year-old.     • Josh Naylor receives rare day off Tuesday vs. O’s
      Josh Naylor is not in the lineup for Tuesday’s game against the Orioles.

      Advice: It looks like merely a routine off day for Naylor, who hasn’t sat out since May 22. The 27-year-old slugger boasts an .823 OPS with a career-high 20 homers and three steals through 73 games so far. It’ll be Gabriel Arias at the hot corner on Tuesday night. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:13 pm
