    • Nears return to baseball activities
Trout (knee) is getting close to returning to baseball activities, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Trout experienced some soreness in his left knee in mid-June but said this week that he's feeling better. Angels manager Ron Washington consequently indicated that the future Hall of Famer is nearing a return to baseball activities, though he didn't specify the nature of those activities or a clear timeframe. Trout has been working out on a stationary bike and elliptical, though he remains several weeks away from being ready to be activated from the injured list. Rotowire.com Today, 12:41 pm

    • Resting versus LHP
Carroll isn't in Arizona's lineup for Saturday's game against Oakland.

Advice: The lefty-hitting Carroll will take a seat Saturday with fellow left-hander Hogan Harris slated to start on the mound. Lourdes Gurriel, Jake McCarthy and Randal Grichuk will start across the D-backs' outfield while Carroll rests. Rotowire.com Today, 11:09 am

    • CJ Abrams in Saturday’s lineup after HBP on Friday
CJ Abrams (wrist) is in the lineup for Saturday’s game against the Rays.

Advice: Abrams is back at shortstop and leading off on Saturday after being hit by a pitch twice during Friday’s game -- first on his right arm by an 89 mph cutter in the first inning and then on his left wrist by an 88 mph offering a couple frames later. The positive news here is that X-rays came back negative and the issue didn’t seem to impact the cyst that he’s been dealing with near that left wrist. All indications are that he’s good to go this weekend. Rotoworld Today, 10:40 am
    • Corbin Carroll sits Saturday against southpaw
Corbin Carroll is not in the lineup for Saturday’s game against the Athletics.

Advice: It appears to be a routine off day for Carroll with lefty Hogan Harris drawing the starting assignment on Saturday afternoon for Oakland. The 23-year-old’s sophomore campaign hasn’t gone as planned, but he’s shown some signs of life over the last few weeks, batting .253 (22-for-87) with eight extra-base hits (zero homers) and five steals since June 1. The complete lack of over-the-fence pop at the moment remains a massive concern for fantasy managers moving forward. Rotoworld Today, 10:06 am

    • Dropped in order against lefty
Carroll batted seventh and went 1-for-3 with a walk and a run scored in Friday's 9-4 loss to the Athletics.

Advice: Carroll was dropped from the top of the order to seventh against a left-hander, though it's unclear if this was a specific adjustment for one game or part of a larger plan going forward against lefties. Carroll appeared to put a season-opening slump behind him earlier this month but was 3-for-22 (.136) over seven games entering Friday. It seems odd that manager Torey Lovullo would drop him after a one-week slump. More should be learned Saturday, when the A's scheduled starter is lefty Hogan Harris. • Two more steals in win
Garcia went 2-for-5 with a double, two stolen bases and two runs scored in Friday's 10-3 win over the Guardians.

Advice: Garcia was briefly bumped down the order last weekend, but he hasn't really rebounded since returning to the leadoff spot for the last five games. His multi-hit effort Friday was his first since June 14 and just his third such game in June, a month in which he's batting .153 (15-for-98). The infielder is now at a .234/.288/.347 slash line with five home runs, 40 RBI, 51 runs scored and 21 steals over 82 contests, with his speed being the biggest upside in his game this year. • Homers in third straight game
Devers went 1-for-2 with a walk and a solo home run in Friday's 9-2 loss to the Padres.

Advice: The third baseman took Wandy Peralta deep in the sixth inning for Boston's final run of the night. Devers has homered in three straight games, and over the last 14 he's batting .321 (17-for-53) with four long balls, 11 RBI and 13 runs. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:16 pm
    • Goes deep again
Rengifo went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer and two runs scored in Friday's win over Detroit.

Advice: Rengifo got things started with a two-run shot in the first inning. It was his sixth of the year and the first time this season he's gone deep in two straight games. He's produced four multi-hit performances in his last five games, boosting his season OPS from .770 to .808 in the process. Rengifo is slashing .315/.361/.447 with 18 extra-base hits, 20 steals and 34 runs scored this season. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:40 pm

    • Luis Rengifo swats two-run homer vs. Tigers
Luis Rengifo hit a two-run homer in the Angels’ win Friday over the Tigers.

Advice: Rengifo gave the Angels a 2-0 lead in the first inning with a two-run swat off Kenta Maeda. Those would be the only runs the Angels would pick up off Maeda, but the Halos were able to get to the Detroit bullpen to pull off the win. Rengifo has been a real bright spot for Los Angeles in 2024 with a .315 average, six homers and 24 RBI through the first 81 games of the year. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:06 pm
