    • Steele tosses six scoreless in no-decision
Justin Steele threw six shutout innings and got a no-decision against the Cubs on Thursday.

Advice: Steele gave up three hits, walked one and struck out five. He was in line for his first win of the season before the bullpen blew the lead. Steele lowered his ERA to 3.22 with the effort. After missing all of April due to injury, he’s now completed at least five innings and had at least five strikeouts in six consecutive starts. Steele finished fifth in the National League Cy Young award voting last year and appears to have regained that form this year. The 28-year-old left-hander is set to face the Giants at home next week.

    • Nestor Cortes solid for seven against Royals
Nestor Cortes pitched seven innings of two-run ball in a no-decision against the Royals on Thursday.

Advice: Cortes turned in his best start in weeks, but he was still in line for the loss when he left. The Yankees offense did let him off the hook, but the Bombers still lost the game to fall to 6-9 in Cortes’s starts. It’s a bizarre figure, given that Cortes has been pretty good with his 3.59 ERA and the team is 43-13 when anyone else starts. Rotoworld Thursday, 2:27 pm

    • Goes seven strong in no-decision
Cortes allowed two runs on six hits and two walks while striking out two over seven innings during Thursday's 4-3 loss to the Royals. He didn't factor in the decision.

Advice: Cortes ran into some trouble in the fourth inning with two runs allowed but otherwise kept Kansas City off the board, pitching deep into yet another start. This was his fifth outing this season of seven or more innings, which is tied for the second most in the American League. The two strikeouts tied for a season low, and the veteran lefty has now gone four straight starts without a win. He will take a 3.59 ERA into his next start, which lines up to come against the Orioles next week. Rotowire.com Thursday, 1:56 pm

    • Collects another win
Suarez (4-0) picked up the win in Wednesday's 5-4 victory over the A's, giving up a hit in a scoreless ninth inning and striking out one.

Advice: For the second straight game, Suarez benefited from a Padres walk-off homer, with Wednesday's coming off the bat of Jackson Merrill. The right-hander has been tagged for a run in only one of his 26 appearances since the beginning of April, and on the season Suarez sports a sparkling 0.61 ERA, 0.68 WHIP and 28:6 K:BB through 29.1 innings. • Dazzles in no-decision
Miller allowed two hits and two walks while striking out eight over seven scoreless innings in a no-decision versus the White Sox on Wednesday.

Advice: Miller rebounded from his worst start of the year by producing his third scoreless outing in 2024. Two of those scoreless efforts have come over his three starts in June. The 25-year-old has a 3.48 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and 80:24 K:BB over 82.2 innings through 14 starts this season as he continues to impress as part of the Mariners' strong rotation. Miller's next start is projected to be a challenging road outing in Cleveland. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 9:43 pm

    • Bryce Miller tosses seven scoreless vs. White Sox
Bryce Miller tossed seven shutout innings with eight strikeouts in a no-decision against the White Sox on Wednesday.

Advice: Miller was brilliant on Wednesday, holding the White Sox scoreless over seven frames. He scattered two hits and two walks while striking out eight batters on 12 whiffs, tossing 64-of-92 pitches for strikes. Miller unfortunately lost the win when the bullpen blew the one-run lead in the ninth. The 25-year-old right-hander has posted a solid 3.48 ERA, 0.98 WHIP, and an 80/24 K/BB ratio across 82 2/3 innings. He’ll take on the Guardians in Cleveland on Tuesday. • Strikes out 11 in loss
Bibee (4-2) took the loss to the Reds on Wednesday, allowing four runs on four hits and one walk with 11 strikeouts over 5.1 innings.

Advice: Bibee surrendered a solo home run to Jeimer Candelario in the first, then he was taken deep by him again for a three-run shot in the sixth. Otherwise, Bibee mostly looked fantastic with a season-high 11 strikeouts and a stretch where he retired 11 straight hitters. On the season, Bibee owns a 3.94 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 87:20 K:BB through 13 starts and lines up for a home matchup against the Mariners next Wednesday. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 8:08 pm

    • Tanner Bibee strikes out 11 in loss to Reds
Tanner Bibee had mixed results in Wednesday’s loss to the Reds, giving up four runs on just four hits over his 5 1/3 innings of work.

Advice: The right-hander piled up 11 strikeouts during the impressive outing while issuing only one base on balls. Unfortunately, two of the four hits that he allowed left the yard — as Jeimer Candelario belted a solo homer in the opening inning and a go-ahead three-run shot that chased Bibee in the sixth. The 25-year-old hurler got a whopping 16 swings and misses on 102 pitches on the night — seven on his slider alone — while registering a CSW of 33 percent. He’ll look to get back in the win column as he carries a 3.94 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and an 87/20 K/BB ratio (75 1/3 innings) into Wednesday’s matchup against the Mariners. • Cleared to start Sunday
Lively (undisclosed) is listed as the Guardians' probable starting pitcher for Sunday's game against the Blue Jays in Toronto.

Advice: Lively experienced some unspecified tightness during his most recent start in Miami on Saturday, when he tossed five shutout innings prior to being lifted. The issue won't result in Lively's turn being skipped, but he'll be pushed back in the schedule and given a full week off before stepping back into the rotation. After joining the Guardians this offseason on a modest one-year, $750,000 contract, Lively has been a valuable piece of the Cleveland rotation in 2024, going 6-2 with a 2.59 ERA and 1.11 WHIP over 55.2 innings across 10 starts.
