    • Homers in consecutive games
Profar went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run and an additional run scored in Wednesday's 12-3 win over the Nationals.

Advice: Profar has gotten back on track after a brief cold spell at the plate around the All-Star break, in which he went 2-for-21 over a five-game span. He's 5-for-14 over his last three contests, with two homers and three RBI in that span. The outfielder is up to 16 long balls, 62 RBI, 55 runs scored, five stolen bases and a .300/.388/.478 slash line through 102 games this season. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:32 pm

    • James McArthur blows save chance vs. D-Backs
James McArthur allowed five runs to blow the save chance against the Diamondbacks on Wednesday.

Advice: McArthur was called on to close it out in the top of the ninth with a one-run lead over the Diamondbacks. After striking out the first batter, Lourdes Gurriel Jr. reached on an infield single. McArthur issued another walk before Gabriel Moreno doubled to bring in both runners and put Arizona on top. Corbin Carroll followed with a single, then Ketel Marte made it a four-run game with a three-run homer. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:07 pm

    • Rafael Devers posts three hits in blowout loss
Rafael Devers went 3-for-3 on Wednesday in the Red Sox’ blowout loss to the Rockies.

Advice: Devers was one of the few bright spots for the Red Sox during Wednesday’s one-sided showdown at Coors Field, totaling three hits before being lifted from the lopsided affair for a pinch-hitter. It was an encouraging development to see him in the lineup at all following an injury scare during Tuesday’s contest when he appeared to hurt his right shoulder on a diving catch attempt at the hot corner. The positive news here is that he managed to avoid serious injury and should continue to anchor Boston’s lineup moving forward. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:09 pm

    • Gorman sitting versus lefty
Nolan Gorman is not in the starting lineup for the Cardinals on Wednesday.

Advice: With the Cardinals facing left-hander Martin Perez, Gorman will head to the bench. The 24-year-old has shown plus power this season but continues to swing and miss at a high rate and is in danger of seeing his batting average dip below .200; however, if you need home runs, he should be a good source of that in all formats. Brendan Donovan will move to second base on Wednesday with Dylan Carlson starting in the outfield. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:41 am

    • Devers (shoulder) is active on Wednesday
Rafael Devers (shoulder) is in the Red Sox starting lineup on Wednesday against the Rockies.

Advice: Devers hurt his shoulder during Tuesday’s game and seemed to be in a lot of pain, but it doesn’t seem like he’s going to miss any time. He’s in the lineup and batting clean-up on Wednesday against the Rockies. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:30 am

    • Getting afternoon off
Gorman is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Pirates, John Denton of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Gorman will be joined on the bench by fellow lefty-hitting regular Michael Siani as the Pirates bring southpaw Martin Perez to the hill for the series finale. Brendan Donovan will cover second base in Gorman's stead. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:05 am

    • No timeline to return
Manager Kevin Cash said he had no update on Diaz's (personal) status prior to Tuesday's game against the Blue Jays, MLB.com reports.

Advice: Diaz has been away from the Rays since the All-Star break and was officially placed on the restricted list Saturday. Cash confirmed that Diaz's placement on the restricted list isn't the result of any team-related decision, as the veteran infielder is tending to a personal family matter. Diaz remains in daily communication with the team. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:33 am

    • Logan Gilbert undone in fifth in loss to Angels
Logan Gilbert dropped to 6-6 after giving up five runs — one earned — in 6 2/3 innings Tuesday against the Angels.

Advice: Gilbert’s pitching effort was stellar, but three of the four hits he allowed and his lone walk came in the fifth. Throw in two errors — one from Gilbert himself — and it produced a five-run inning. Gilbert’s error came on a bases-loaded squeeze bunt with no outs in the frame. He pounced on the ball, but he made a wild throw home that the catcher could do nothing about, and a second run scored on obstruction from third baseman Josh Rojas. Gilbert wound up with eight strikeouts on the night. His ERA dropped to 2.72. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:19 am

    • Hurt by five-run fifth inning
Gilbert (6-6) took the loss to the Angels on Tuesday, allowing five runs (one earned) on four hits and a walk while striking out eight over 6.2 innings.

Advice: Gilbert retired the first 12 batters he faced before things completely unraveled in the fifth. He allowed three base hits in the inning, and two throwing errors played a part in the Angels tacking on all five of their runs in the frame. Still, it was his third straight start of more than six innings, a span during which he's compiled a 24:2 K:BB in 21.1 innings. Gilbert only has one win over his last five starts despite posting four quality starts over that timeframe. He now has a 2.72 ERA (fifth lowest in MLB) and an 0.86 WHIP (lowest in MLB) to complement a 132:26 K:BB in 139 innings and lines up to face the Red Sox on the road to begin next week.
