    • Makes pinch-hit appearance Sunday
Rodriguez (quadriceps) entered Sunday's extra-inning loss to the Blue Jays as a pinch hitter in the eighth inning and was hit by a pitch in his one plate appearance.

Advice: Rodriguez was out of the starting nine after being removed early from Saturday's game against Toronto with the quadriceps injury, but a subsequent MRI came back with "nothing out of the ordinary," per MLB.com. As had been announced by manager Scott Servais before Sunday's contest after Rodriguez completed some pregame running drills, the outfielder was healthy enough to take an at-bat. However, Servais immediately substituted Dylan Moore for Rodriguez on the basepaths once the latter was plunked, and Rodriguez was subsequently formally ejected in the ninth inning for shouting from the dugout after a called third strike on Mitch Garver. With the benefit of a team off day Monday, Rodriguez could be healthy enough to return to the lineup for Tuesday's series opener against the Padres. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:59 am
    • Mashes leadoff home run
Carroll went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Sunday's win over the Padres.

Advice: Carroll led things off by taking Dylan Cease deep to right center to push the Diamondbacks ahead to an early 1-0 lead. It was his first home run since May 7 and his first RBI since June 18. Carroll is now up to three home runs for the year and is exhibiting a significant power decrease after blasting 25 long balls a season ago. The 23-year-old is now slashing .210/.297/.318 with 24 extra-base hits, 24 RBI, 54 runs and a 38:68 BB:K in 379 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:29 am

    • Corbin Carroll hits first homer in two months
Corbin Carroll took the Padres’ Dylan Cease deep Sunday for his first homer since May 7.

Advice: Carroll hit the ball 397 feet, his second-farthest shot this year. It’s the first time since that May 7 homer that he’d hit one over 370 feet. Carroll has just one 400-foot blast this season, compared to 21 last year. We still wouldn’t say there’s a whole lot to be encouraged about here. Rotoworld Sunday, 4:47 pm

    • Tallies four hits in win
Langford went 4-for-5 with a double, one RBI and two runs scored in Sunday's 13-2 win over the Rays.

Advice: This was Langford's second four-hit game over his last seven contests after he hit for the cycle last Sunday. The outfielder is 12-for-26 (.462) in that span, and he's added a 4:6 BB:K. It's taken him some time, but it appears he's found some consistency at the plate midway through his rookie year. Langford is slashing .270/.337/.398 with four home runs, 37 RBI, 28 runs scored, 11 doubles, four triples and seven stolen bases over 66 contests. Rotowire.com Sunday, 4:22 pm

    • May need another rehab start
Woo (hamstring) threw 45 pitches and allowed two runs on a hit with two walks and two strikeouts over 2.2 innings during his rehab start with High-A Everett on Saturday, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports.

Advice: The 24-year-old rejoined the Mariners on Sunday, but manager Scott Servais was non-committal on whether the right-hander will require an additional rehab outing. The club wants Woo to be able to cover at least four or five innings before being reinserted into the big-league rotation, so it wouldn't be surprising if he's sent on another rehab outing to further build up his workload before being activated. • Tosses sim game, rehab start next
Kershaw (shoulder) threw a two-inning simulated game Sunday in Los Angeles, the Associated Press reports. "It was good to see him throw two innings. We accomplished what we wanted to," manager Dave Roberts said after Kershaw's workout.

Advice: Kershaw has resided on the injured list all season after undergoing surgery on his left shoulder last November, but he looks like he could be ready to make his 2024 debut for the Dodgers at some point within the next month. The 36-year-old had previously made a three-inning rehab start for Single-A Rancho Cucamonga on June 19, but he was then shut down from throwing for the next week after experiencing lingering soreness in his shoulder. According to Roberts, Kershaw is in line to resume his rehab assignment next Saturday, likely with Triple-A Oklahoma City. Kershaw is expected to cover three innings in that outing, and he's likely to require at least two rehab starts beyond that one before the Dodgers bring him back from the 60-day IL. • Sitting versus southpaw
Frelick is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Dodgers.

Advice: Frelick is 1-for-13 with two walks and two runs over his past four games and will sit Sunday with lefty Justin Wrobleski taking the mound for Los Angeles. Jackson Chourio, Blake Perkins and Garrett Mitchell will start from left to right in the outfield for the series finale. Rotowire.com Sunday, 12:51 pm

    • Sitting Sunday
Rodriguez (quadriceps) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Blue Jays but could be available as a pinch hitter, Shannon Drayer of SeattleSports.com reports.

Advice: The 23-year-old was removed early in Saturday's contest due to discomfort in his lower right quadricep, though it doesn't appear he's dealing with a serious injury. Rodriguez may be available off the bench, but the Mariners could play it safe and give him a couple days to rest up as the team has a scheduled day off Monday. Rotowire.com Sunday, 11:52 am
    • Kershaw (shoulder) throws two simulated innings
Clayton Kershaw (shoulder) threw two simulated innings before Sunday’s game.

Advice: Kershaw continues to make progress from his shoulder surgery, and the left-hander is getting closer to a rehab appearance. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts told reporters that Kershaw’s next outing would aim for three simulated innings. Kershaw is expected back not long after the All-Star break. Rotoworld Sunday, 11:36 am
