    • Blake Snell racks up 15 strikeouts in no-decision
Blake Snell delivered an outstanding performance in a tough-luck no-decision against the Rockies on Saturday, racking up a season-high 15 strikeouts over six innings of shutout baseball.

Advice: The 31-year-old southpaw scattered just two hits and two walks on the evening. Both of the hits that he did allow were doubles — by Brenton Doyle and Ezequiel Tovar. Snell generated an astounding 30 swings and misses on 103 pitches in the ballgame — 14 on his curveball and 10 on his fastball — while registering a jaw-dropping CSW of 46 percent. If he was auditioning for interested teams in advance of the trade deadline, he couldn’t have scripted it any better. He’ll carry a 5.10 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and a 61/21 K/BB ratio (47 2/3 innings) into next week’s outing, wherever it may be. Rotoworld Today, 6:36 pm

    • Josh Naylor unlikely to play on Sunday as well
Guardians manager Stephen Vogt told reporters on that Josh Naylor is “dealing with some stuff”, which is why he was held out of the team’s lineup for the second straight day on Saturday.

Advice: Vogt elaborated, “We felt like getting him a couple days to knock everything out, to get him back to level to be able to finish the season, hopefully, scotch-free. ... He’s been banged up all year.” Given the statement, it seems likely that Naylor will be held out of the Guardians’ lineup on Sunday as well, though nothing is certain. Vogt did say that he didn’t expect Naylor would require a trip to the injured list. Rotoworld Today, 3:37 pm

    • Josh Naylor remains out of lineup on Saturday
Josh Naylor is not in the lineup for Saturday’s showdown against the Phillies.

Advice: No word yet on the reason why Naylor is absent from Cleveland’s lineup for the second straight contest, but it’s possible he’s dealing with some sort of physical issue. It’ll be rookie Jhonkensy Noel at the cold corner on Saturday evening in his absence. Rotoworld Today, 12:44 pm

    • Out of lineup Saturday
Naylor is not in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Phillies.

Advice: Naylor will sit for a second straight game. He went 2-for-9 with one RBI and two walks in the Guardians' three-game series against the Tigers, and for the month of July he has a .665 OPS across 76 plate appearances. Jhonkensy Noel will start at first base Saturday and bat eighth against Phillies right-hander Tyler Phillips. Rotowire.com Today, 12:32 pm

    • Posts another multi-hit effort
Volpe went 2-for-5 with a solo home run, an additional run and a stolen base in Friday's loss to the Red Sox.

Advice: Volpe put the Yankees on the board in the second inning with a solo shot to center field and added a single in the fifth. The shortstop has three multi-hit performances across his past four games and has hit safely in seven of his past eight contests. Over that stretch, he's batting .344 with two home runs, five RBI, five runs and three stolen bases. Rotowire.com Today, 10:35 am

    • Getting second opinion
Carter was shut down from baseball activities Friday and will get a second opinion on his lower back soreness, MLB.com reports.

Advice: Carter is set to visit a specialist in California, and the Rangers will reassess the outfielder's condition and map out steps for his recovery pending the results of the appointment. "He's just not coming along like we were hoping," Texas manager Bruce Bochy said. There had been talk of Carter beginning a rehab assignment next week, but those plans are on hold. • Julio Rodríguez (ankle) to be re-evaluated next week
Mariners general manager Justin Hollander told reporters Wednesday that Julio Rodríguez (ankle) will be re-evaluated next week.

Advice: Rodríguez will be shut down completely from baseball activities until next week before Seattle’s medical staff determines his next steps. The 23-year-old franchise cornerstone landed on the injured list earlier this week with a high ankle sprain and remains without an official return timetable. There should be some much-needed clarity on his status at some point next week. Rotoworld Today, 4:26 am

    • Evan Carter to visit back specialist for second opinion
Rangers manager Bruce Bochy said Friday that Evan Carter is scheduled to visit a back specialist for a second opinion.

Advice: Not great. Carter is currently shut down from all baseball activities after not feeling well enough to head out on a minor league rehab assignment coming out of the All-Star break. The 21-year-old former top prospect has been out since late May recovering from a stress reaction in his back. There should be an update on his status in the coming days, but there’s now a non-zero possibility he might not make it back this season. Rotoworld Today, 4:22 am

    • Brayan Bello goes five, gives up three runs
Brayan Bello pitched five innings of three-run ball Friday in a no-decision against the Yankees.

Advice: Bello allowed five hits, walked two and struck out four in a pretty typical outing for him. He’s allowed exactly three runs in three straight outings, and he’s pitched between 4 2/3 innings and 6 2/3 innings in all but one of his 19 starts. Mediocre. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:49 pm
