    Blue Jays recalled 1B Spencer Horwitz from Triple-A Buffalo.

    Advice: Horwitz was great at Buffalo, batting .335/.456/.514, but the Jays hadn’t called him up because it didn’t seem like he’d be able to coexist with fellow left-handed hitter Daniel Vogelbach. They’ll give it a try now, in part because they’ve grown at least somewhat comfortable with the idea of using Vladimir Guerrero Jr. at third base. He's played mostly at second base as of late, but the 26-year old has the versatility to also fill in at first base or the corner outfield.     Horwitz is expected to join the Blue Jays in Oakland on Friday, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca reports.

    Advice: He will presumably be added to the roster, although it's unclear what the corresponding transaction will be. Horwitz has been on fire of late at Triple-A Buffalo, going 16-for-36 with a pair of home runs. He's also played mostly second base over that stretch, and that could be a path to playing time for him with the big club if the Jays would prefer to use Davis Schneider more in left field.     Encarnacion-Strand (wrist) had a follow-up exam with Reds doctors Wednesday, and he was cleared to take the next step in his rehab, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports.

    Advice: While that would seem to be good news for Encarnacion-Strand, who was diagnosed with a right ulnar styloid fracture May 8, he opted to get a second opinion, putting his rehab on hold for the moment.     Christian Encarnacion-Strand (wrist) has been cleared to resume baseball activities.

    Advice: Encarnacion-Strand has been on the shelf since early May due to a right wrist fracture. The biggest question for fantasy managers moving forward is whether his prodigious over-the-fence power will be adversely impacted. The 24-year-old slugger is going to need several weeks to ramp back up fully prior to returning to Cincinnati, but it’s possible he’s back before next month’s All-Star break. The 25-year-old owns a .505 OPS through 49 plate appearances in the big leagues this season, but he's slashed .277/.363/.571 with nine homers and 27 RBI since being sent down to Triple-A in late April.
