    • Jo Adell goes 0-for-4, hitting .111 in June
      Jo Adell finished 0-for-4 against the A’s on Monday, leaving him 7-for-63 with one homer in June.

      Advice: Adell looked like maybe the AL’s most improved player over the first quarter of the season, but he’s all of the way down to .181/.242/.386 now. At least his defensive gains have remained intact. The Angels ought to keep playing him regularly, probably for the rest of the season, but it’s certainly still up for debate whether he belongs in their plans for 2025 and beyond.     • Nathaniel Lowe goes 0-for-4, fans three times
      Nathaniel Lowe went 0-for-4 and struck out three times against the Brewers in Monday’s loss.

      Advice: Lowe looked like a long-term answer at first base for the Rangers in 2022, but his power production fell off last year and has continued to decline this season, as he’s managed just two homers and three barrels through 228 plate appearances. His .351 OBP is nice, so it seems unlikely that the Rangers will try to upgrade this summer. However, if he fails to step it up, he’s going to be a non-tender candidate this winter.     • Doubles twice, scores three runs
      India went 3-for-5 with two doubles, an RBI, three runs scored and a walk in Monday's win over Pittsburgh.

      Advice: India picked up a hit and scored a run in each of the fourth, fifth and sixth innings. It was his third straight multi-hit game, boosting his season OPS from .696 to .732 in the process. He's gone 11-for-23 (.478) with five extra-base hits over his last six games.     • Ohtani walks, hits sac fly in win over White Sox
      Shohei Ohtani went 0-for-3 with a walk and an RBI against the White Sox on Monday.

      Advice: It was a quiet game for the Dodgers offense against White Sox starter Garrett Crochet. Ohtani hit a sacrifice fly in the ninth inning to give Los Angeles a 3-0 lead. It was his 58th RBI on the season. He trails only Braves outfielder Marcell Ozuna for the National League lead in RBI. Ohtani is hitting .318 with a 1.021 OPS on the season.     • Lynn gets third win against Braves Monday
      Lance Lynn allowed one run in 6 2/3 innings and got the win in the Cardinals’ 4-3 victory over the Braves on Monday.



      Advice: Lynn gave up four hits, walked none and struck out five. The win was Lynn’s third of the year. It was his first quality start since May 27th. Lynn lowered his ERA to 3.86 and he has a 4.02 xFIP on the season. His 5.73 ERA from last year appears to be an outlier. Lynn is close to getting a strikeout per inning, but he’s only completed six innings in four of his 16 starts this year. The 37-year-old right-hander is set to face the Reds at home this weekend.

    • Plays catch from 90 feet
      Ohtani (elbow) played catch from 90 feet Monday, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.

      Advice: It's the first time he's thrown from that distance since last September's Tommy John surgery. Ohtani continues to progress in his rehab with no issues, and he has certainly shown no ill effects at the plate as a result of the recovery. The Dodgers haven't ruled out the possibility of Ohtani playing the outfield at some point in 2024, although that still seems like a long shot.       Garrett gave up a hit and struck out one in a scoreless eighth inning Sunday to record his seventh hold of the season in a win over the Cubs.

      Advice: Edwin Diaz came on the ninth but got ejected for a foreign substance, and Jake Diekman wound up getting a one-out save as Mets manager Carlos Mendoza scrambled to fill in for his closer. Diaz is facing a 10-game suspension, and based on Mendoza's bullpen usage while the right-hander was out injured, Garrett should be viewed as the favorite to handle any save chances during that time.       Advice: Thomas spearheaded the Nationals' comeback, plating CJ Abrams with a game-tying double and then stealing third before scoring the go-ahead run on a Joey Meneses single.       Clase pitched a scoreless inning, allowing a hit and walk while striking out a batter on his way to a save in Sunday's 6-5 win over the Blue Jays.

      Advice: Clase was called upon to protect a 6-5 lead in the top of the ninth inning, and he worked around a pair of baserunners for his 24th save of the season. The right-hander is as elite as it gets at closer, going 24-for-27 on save opportunities in 2024, while he has now converted his last 11 chances.
