    • Homers in second straight
Vaughn went 1-for-4 with a solo home run Tuesday against the Guardians.

Advice: Vaughn got the scoring going with a home run in the first inning, his 11th of the season and second in as many matchups. He also extended his hitting streak to five games, during which he's gone 7-for-16 with five RBI and six runs scored. The recent stretch has also brought Vaughn's OPS to .701, its highest mark at any point this season. Rotowire.com Today, 9:12 am
    • Anthony Santander propels Orioles past Mariners
Anthony Santander went 2-for-4 and drove in a run on Tuesday evening, leading the Orioles to a 2-0 victory over the Mariners in Seattle.

Advice: Santander broke a scoreless tie in the fourth inning as he smacked an RBI single into right field off of George Kirby in the fourth inning that plated Gunnar Henderson. The 29-year-old outfielder also led off the second inning with a single, but he was ultimately erased on a double play. With his two-hit attack, Santander is now hitting .234/.302/.503 with 22 homers and 56 RBI on the year. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:32 pm
    • George Kirby logs quality start in loss to O’s
George Kirby logged a quality start in Tuesday night’s loss to the Orioles, giving up two runs on seven hits over his 6 1/3 innings.

Advice: Kirby struck out five batters on the evening while issuing only one free pass. The Orioles scratched out a run against him in the fourth inning on an RBI single by Anthony Santander. They added another in the seventh inning on a one-out RBI single by Cedric Mullins — the final batter Kirby would face. Kirby piled up 14 swings and misses on 95 pitches in the ballgame — 11 on his heater — while posting a CSW of 26 percent. He’ll bring a 3.32 ERA, pristine 0.98 WHIP and a 101/10 K/BB ratio (105 2/3 innings) into Sunday’s matchup against the Blue Jays. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:15 pm
    • Bested in pitching duel
Kirby (7-6) allowed two runs on seven hits and one walk while striking out five over 6.1 innings, taking the loss Tuesday versus the Orioles.

Advice: Kirby's gone seven starts in a row without allowing more than two runs, but he didn't get any run support Tuesday. The Mariners mustered two hits and four walks but couldn't scrape together a run, leaving Kirby to take his first loss since May 24. The right-hander continues to give his team a chance to win, maintaining a 3.32 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and 101:10 K:BB across 105.2 innings through 18 starts this year. He's projected to make his next start at home versus the Blue Jays. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:49 pm
    • Nimmo has two hits, two RBI off bench
Brandon Nimmo went 2-for-3 with two RBIs after coming off the bench in a win over the Nationals on Tuesday.

Advice: Nimmo didn’t start the game after nursing a head injury when he fell in his hotel room on Sunday night and cut his head. However, he certainly seems to be healthy, knocking in a run on a single in the eighth to tie the game and then giving the Mets a two-run cushion in the 10th inning with an RBI double. Over the last six weeks, Nimmo is hitting .283/.377/.496 with six home runs, 27 runs scored, 21 RBI, and three steals in 33 games. He remains underrated in fantasy baseball. • Jordan Montgomery hits IL with knee inflammation
Diamondbacks placed LHP Jordan Montgomery on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to June 29, with right knee inflammation.

Advice: Arizona had to come up with something here since Montgomery badly needs to press the reset button on the metaphorical console. Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo told reporters that injury occurred during a bullpen session over the weekend and he doesn’t expect it to be an extended absence. The 31-year-old southpaw’s Arizona debut has gone about as poorly as one could imagine with a bloated 6.44 ERA, 1.68 WHIP and 45/23 K/BB ratio across 65 2/3 innings (13 starts). The hope here for fantasy managers is that some time out of the spotlight to work on things is able to help him get back on track. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:34 pm
    • Lands on injured list
The Diamondbacks placed Montgomery on the 15-day injured list Tuesday, retroactive to June 29, due to right knee inflammation.

Advice: Montgomery was tagged for eight runs (four earned) during his start Thursday against the Twins, though it's unclear if the injury played a role in those results. The veteran left-hander will be eligible to be reinstated for the final game before the All-Star break July 14 versus the Blue Jays, but a return after the Midsummer Classic likely more realistic. • Starting Tuesday
Ward (head) is starting in left field and batting third Tuesday following being hit in the head Sunday.

Advice: Ward departed Sunday's game versus the Tigers in the bottom of the ninth inning after being struck by a pitch in the head, a 93 mph fastball thrown by Shelby Miller. Ward's removal from the game has now proved to be more of a precautionary move. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 2:54 pm
    • M’s drop Julio Rodríguez to seventh in lineup
Julio Rodríguez is batting seventh on Tuesday against the Orioles.

Advice: It’s the lowest Rodriguez has batted in the majors in quite some time as his frosty start to the 2024 campaign continues. The 23-year-old generational talent has really struggled to get going this season at the plate, batting .247/.297/.327 with seven homers and 17 steals across 360 plate appearances. He’s been ice-cold of late, hitting .069 (2-for-29) over his last seven games. It’s possible taking some pressure off him to produce in the heart of Seattle’s lineup will help him get back on track. We’ll see. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:26 pm
