    • Taylor Ward crushes grand slam to lead Angels
Taylor Ward crushed a grand slam on Sunday afternoon, powering the Angels to an 8-6 victory over the Athletics.

Advice: The Angels fell behind 6-0 heading into the home half of the third inning in this one, but they never stopped fighting. After scratching out three runs in the third inning, Ward gave them their first lead of the day as he clobbered a 407-foot grand slam off of Osvaldo Bido to give the Angels a 7-6 lead they would never relinquish. He also singled in the contest, finishing the day 2-for-5. On the season, the 30-year-old outfielder is now slashing .227/.309/.401 with 16 homers and 51 RBI on the season. Rotoworld 4 minutes ago

    • Cole Ragans hit hard by Cubs
Cole Ragans surrendered eight hits and four earned runs in 5 2/3 innings on Sunday against the Cubs. He struck out seven and walked one in defeat.

Advice: Ragans did not have his best stuff in this one. He still struck plenty of batters out and forced 17 swings-and-misses, but his fastball and slider each allowed more damage than we’re used to seeing. Even more worrisome, his velocity still has not bounced back to where it was before July. This was his fourth start out of five where his fastball did not average 95 MPH. He only had one such start all season before June 29th. Rotoworld Today, 2:21 pm

    • On bench Sunday
Gurriel is out of the lineup for Sunday's game versus the Pirates.

Advice: Gurriel is hitting .256 with a .618 OPS in 18 games during August and will take a seat for Sunday's series finale versus Pittsburgh. Jake McCarthy will receive a start in left field and bat fifth for Arizona. Rotowire.com Today, 1:06 pm
    • Not in Sunday's lineup
Bryant is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Giants.

Advice: Bryant sat out Game 2 of Saturday's doubleheader and will hit the bench Sunday for a second straight game. He's gone 4-for-16 with a double, a walk, four runs and eight strikeouts in four games since being activated from the injured list Tuesday. Rotowire.com Today, 1:01 pm

    • Shifts to 60-day IL
The Mets transferred Senga (calf) to the 60-day injured list Sunday, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.

Advice: The 31-year-old was ruled out for the regular season after being diagnosed with a high-grade calf strain Saturday, so the move to the 60-day IL isn't a surprise. A postseason return for Senga has yet to be ruled out, but he'll likely need to avoid any setbacks during his rehab program for that to remain a possibility. Rotowire.com Today, 10:57 am

    • Resumes rehab assignment
Texas manager Bruce Bochy said Saturday that Jung (wrist) is "doing great" after playing rehab games for Double-A Frisco on Friday and Saturday, MLB.com reports.

Advice: Jung, who had his original rehab assignment paused in June, restarted it over the weekend, going 2-for-7 in the two games. The Rangers will evaluate the injured third baseman Monday, at which point the club will determine next steps. Options include having Jung play another rehab series in Triple-A or clearing the way for his return to the major-league club. Rotowire.com Today, 10:12 am

    • Not in Sunday's lineup
Vaughn is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Mariners.

Advice: Vaughn started the first nine games of the second half but will sit Sunday after going 7-for-35 with a .451 OPS during that stretch. Gavin Sheets will take over at first base and bat cleanup for the White Sox. Rotowire.com Today, 10:10 am

    • Mets transfer Senga (calf) to 60-day injured list
Mets transferred RHP Kodai Senga from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day injured list.

Advice: The move creates room on the 40-man roster for Jesse Winker after the Mets trade for Winker from the Nationals. Senga now won’t be eligible to return to the New York rotation until the end of September, but it’s very likely that the 31-year-old will miss the rest of the season because of his left calf strain. • Tops 50 pitches
Verlander (neck) threw more than 50 pitches in his bullpen session Saturday, MLB.com reports.

Advice: The exact number of pitches wasn't reported, but this was a step forward from his last session July 20 when he threw 40 pitches. It's expected that Verlander will return from the injured list in the upcoming week, though the team's exact plans are unclear. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:33 pm
