• Goes deep in victory
Arenado went 1-for-5 with a solo home run and an additional run scored in Monday's 10-5 victory versus the Angels.

Advice: The Cardinals were shut out over six innings before Arenado ignited an eight-run seventh with an inning-opening solo shot to left field. The long ball was just his third of the season and marked only his second extra-base hit over his past seven games. Aside from the lack of power, Arenado hasn't been far off his usual level of production, slashing .268/.327/.386 with 21 RBI and 15 runs through 40 games. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:04 pm
  • Lifts three-run homer
Matos went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run in Monday's 6-4 extra-inning loss to the Dodgers.

Advice: Matos did his damage early, taking Yoshinobu Yamamoto deep in the second inning. The homer was Matos' first hit over three games this season, and he's added four RBI and two runs scored. The outfielder was slashing a paltry .218/.309/.355 over 31 contests with Triple-A Sacramento prior to his call-up, but he'll have a chance to show what he can do in the majors while filling in for Jung Hoo Lee (shoulder) in center field. • Homers off bench Monday
Hernandez went 1-for-2 with a solo home run in Monday's 6-4 extra-inning win over the Giants.

Advice: Hernandez opened May in an 0-for-11 slump, but he's hit safely in each of his last two games, including his seventh-inning blast as a pinch hitter Monday. The utility man is at a poor .220/.278/.305 slash line with two homers, seven RBI, six runs scored and one double through 90 plate appearances. Hernandez hasn't been strictly limited to a short-side platoon role, but that may change once Jason Heyward (back) is able to return from the injured list. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:53 pm

  • Smacks leadoff homer
Betts went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and an additional run scored in Monday's 6-4 extra-inning win over the Giants.

Advice: Betts snapped a 26-game homer drought with his leadoff blast Monday. He was far from a slouch in that span, batting .337 with an .848 OPS during the power drought. For the season, Betts is up to a .341/.440/.553 slash line with seven homers, 28 RBI, 35 runs scored, eight stolen bases, 11 doubles and two triples over 200 plate appearances. While it has cost him some power, Betts is enjoying the best plate discipline of his career with a 15.0 percent walk rate and 9.0 percent strikeout rate. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:48 pm

  • Will Smith delivers in 10th as Dodgers down Giants
Will Smith delivered a two-run double in the top of the 10th to propel the Dodgers past the Giants 6-4 on Monday.

Advice: It was his second hit of the game. Smith hit .258., 260 and .261 the last three years, but he’s at .309 right now, and he has the exit velocity numbers to somewhat back it up. He’ll probably fade as the foul tips and other catching maladies pile up, but he’s been one of the NL’s best players to date. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:42 pm
  • Teoscar Hernández goes 0-for-5 against Giants
Teoscar Hernández finished 0-for-5 with three strikeouts against the Giants on Monday.

Advice: Hernández is having a terrific fantasy campaign with his 11 homers and 33 RBI in 43 games, but the .244 average, .307 OBP and 30.6% strikeout rate aren’t exactly encouraging. It’s a good thing he plays for the Dodgers, because Statcast thinks he’d have fewer homers hitting anywhere else and he also probably wouldn’t be batting with as many runners on base. • Luis Matos hits three-run homer against Dodgers
Luis Matos hit a three-run homer in his second big-league game of the season Monday against the Dodgers.

Advice: It came off Yoshinobu Yamamoto. Matos hit just .218/.308/.355 for Sacramento before injuries to Giants outfielders got him called up from Triple-A on Sunday, but he showed plenty of promise last season and he might prove to be more than just a stopgap for the Giants with Jung Hoo Lee sidelined. • Gabriel Moreno homers, walks three times in win
Gabriel Moreno hit a solo homer and drew three walks in a victory over the Reds on Monday.

Advice: Moreno took Graham Ashcraft deep for his first homer of the 2024 campaign. The four-reach game helps improve his slash to .248/.350/.356. The on-base percentage is nice. Everything else leaves a lot to be desired — even as a catcher. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:04 pm
  • Joc Pederson gets ejected in eighth inning
Joc Pederson was ejected from Monday’s game in the eighth inning for arguing balls and strikes.

Advice: Pederson was right, not that it matters much. Manager Torey Lovullo was also tossed with the Diamondbacks down 5-4 to the Reds in the eighth. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:40 pm
