    McKenzie gave up four runs on six hits and three walks while striking out nine over five innings in a no-decision versus the Rockies on Tuesday.

    Advice: Kris Bryant and Elehuris Montero each tagged McKenzie for a two-run home run. Despite those homers, McKenzie left the game in line for the win before the Guardians' bullpen faltered in the sixth inning. The right-hander had limited opponents to three runs or fewer in each of his last seven outings before his step back Tuesday. McKenzie is at a 3.77 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 54:34 K:BB over 57.1 innings across 11 starts. He's projected to make his next start at home versus the Royals in a tough divisional matchup.   • Jake Woodford allows 3 ER in emergency start
    Jake Woodford allowed three earned runs over 4 1/3 innings in Tuesday’s loss to the Blue Jays.

    Advice: Called up for an emergency spot start in place of Mike Clevinger (elbow), Woodford gave up three earned runs in the second inning but limited the damage the rest of the way. He was pulled after giving up a one-out single to Danny Jansen but was solid in his first big league appearance of the season.     Kevin Gausman allowed one earned and four hits over six innings while earning the win on Tuesday against the White Sox.

    Advice: Gausman didn’t face much resistance in this one, as the Blue Jays grabbed an early 3-0 lead in the second, which more or less put Gausman in cruise control against one of the league’s worst offenses. Gausman earned a win in three of his five stars this month, and will have a chance to start June off on a strong note when he makes his next scheduled start on Monday against the Orioles.     Giants selected the contract of RHP Spencer Howard from Triple-A Sacramento.

    Advice: Howard will likely factor into San Francisco’s pitching plan for Tuesday’s contest against the Phillies as a bulk reliever. The 27-year-old righty will be making his season debut after re-signing with the Giants last September on a minor league pact.     The Giants selected Howard's contract from Triple-A Sacramento, and he's expected to serve as the primary pitcher Tuesday against the Phillies, Andrew Baggarly of The Athletic reports.

    Advice: Erik Miller is starting Tuesday's contest for the Giants, and Howard is expected to see some bulk innings behind the opener. Howard has showcased his swing-and-miss stuff at Triple-A Sacramento this season with a 13.1 K/9, but his 5.90 ERA and 1.56 WHIP over 39.2 innings are otherwise underwhelming.     Advice: There’s zero streaming appeal here for fantasy managers given Woodford’s career numbers in the majors as he’ll take the ball on Tuesday evening against the Blue Jays for an emergency spot start in place of an injured Mike Clevinger (elbow). The 27-year-old righty holds a pedestrian 4.29 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 119/63 K/BB ratio across 184 2/3 innings (80 appearances, 18 starts) in the big leagues since 2020.     Woodford is having his contract selected from Triple-A Charlotte and will start Tuesday against the Blue Jays, Vinnie Duber of AllCHGO.com reports.

    Advice: The right-hander joined the White Sox on a minor-league deal in January and will receive his first look in the big leagues this year as Mike Clevinger (elbow) heads to the injured list. Woodford posteed a 6.23 ERA over 47.2 innings for St. Louis in 2023, and he hasn't pitched particularly well for Charlotte this year with a 5.26 ERA and 42:17 K:BB in 10 starts.     Holmes picked up the save over the Padres on Saturday, pitching a perfect ninth inning while striking out one.

    Advice: Holmes made it look easy Saturday, retiring all three batters he faced in the ninth on a total of just seven pitches to record his 15th save of the season. The right-handed reliever has now converted his last two save opportunities after surrendering four runs to the Mariners on May 20, striking out at least one batter in each of those appearances.
