    • Jackson Chourio hits grand slam to lead Brewers
      Jackson Chourio hit his first career grand slam Friday to provide all of the scoring as the Brewers beat the Cubs 4-2.

      Advice: This one was pretty legit; the homer was projected at 377 feet and would have been out of 21 of the 30 ballparks. He still has just one no-doubter this year; he hit a Martín Pérez changeup 441 feet on May 15. Apart from that, his next farthest blast was 402 feet.       Chourio went 2-for-3 with a grand slam in Friday's win over the Cubs.

      Advice: Chourio's grand slam in the fourth inning gave the Brewers the lead and proved to be the only offense the team could produce all night. He's homered in back-to-back games, though his home run Wednesday against Texas was inside-the-park. He's knocked nine homers with 33 RBI and a .676 OPS through 72 games this season.       Kimbrel earned a save against the Rangers on Friday, striking out two in a perfect ninth inning.

      Advice: Kimbrel was called upon to protect a 2-1 lead in the ninth inning and did so with two strikeouts and a groundout. The veteran has rebounded from a blown save June 19 with two straight scoreless conversions.       Nick Pivetta surrendered five runs in four-plus innings Friday in a loss to the Padres.

      Advice: Pivetta pitched four scoreless innings, striking out four, before giving up four straight hits and a walk to begin the fifth. He was pulled at that point, and the Padres ended up scoring nine times in the frame. Pivetta has allowed 15 earned runs over 19 1/3 innings in his last four starts, taking his season ERA from 3.40 to 4.52.       Advice: Raley will miss his second straight game due to soreness in his shoulder. The good news, is that an MRI revealed no structural damage and the 29-year-old outfielder is expected to be available off the Mariners’ bench on Friday. He should be considered day-to-day.     • Eduardo Rodriguez heading for follow-up MRI
      Eduardo Rodriguez (lat) will undergo another follow-up MRI exam on July 6.

      Advice: If all goes well with that exam, it sounds like the 31-year-old southpaw will finally be cleared to resume throwing off of a mound. Once that’s done, he’ll need several sessions off the mound before facing live hitters and then several minor league rehab starts before he’s ready to join the Diamondbacks’ rotation.       Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo said Friday that Rodriguez (shoulder) is scheduled for a follow-up MRI on July 6, Jesse Friedman of GoPHNX.com reports.

      Advice: Rodriguez extended his throwing program out to 105 feet earlier in June, and Lovullo noted that the southpaw could start throwing off the mound depending on the results of the MRI. Rodriguez has been out all season after straining his left shoulder in spring training, and his initial throwing program was shut down in April due to shoulder tightness.
