• Paul Sewald (oblique) fans two in rehab debut
Paul Sewald (oblique) allowed an unearned run and recorded two outs on Tuesday in his minor league rehab debut for Triple-A Reno.

Advice: Sewald notched a pair of strikeouts and threw 21 pitches (14 strikes) in his first rehab outing. The 33-year-old veteran stopper figures to rejoin Arizona’s injury-depleted bullpen in the coming days after missing the opening month of the season recovering from a Grade 2 left oblique strain. • Rehab slowed by back issue
Bachman (shoulder) is dealing with mid-back spasms, causing his throwing progression to be put on hold, per MLB.com.

Advice: Bachman has been at the Angels' training facility in Arizona rehabbing from last October's shoulder cleanup surgery. It was initially expected that the righty hurler would be ready to pitch by the start of spring training, but he's instead been progressing slowly and was placed on the 60-day IL in late March. Bachman could still be ready to return by the beginning of June if the back spasms don't halt his throwing progression for an extended period. Rotowire.com 24 minutes ago

  • D-backs recall Justin Martinez on Tuesday
Diamondbacks recalled RHP Justin Martinez from Triple-A Reno.

Advice: Martinez joins Arizona’s bullpen as a last-minute addition prior to Tuesday’s contest against the Cardinals with southpaw Kyle Nelson landing on the injured list with shoulder inflammation. The 22-year-old righty has made 12 relief appearances for the Diamondbacks over the last two seasons. Rotoworld 30 minutes ago
  • D-backs put Kyle Nelson (shoulder) on 15-day IL
Diamondbacks placed LHP Kyle Nelson on the 15-day injured list with left shoulder inflammation.

Advice: Nelson becomes the latest member of Arizona’s pitching staff to land on the injured list. The 27-year-old lefty heads to the shelf after making 11 relief appearances this season for the Diamondbacks. He made a career-high 68 appearances last year during the regular season. • Placed on 15-day IL
Nelson was placed on the 15-day injured list with left shoulder inflammation on Tuesday.

Advice: Nelson will now be sidelined for at least a couple weeks while tending to inflammation in his pitching elbow, which is never good news for a hurler. The 27-year-old had been going through a rough stretch on the mound, surrendering five earned runs over 1.1 innings in his last three appearances. It's unclear if the left-hander's stretch of poor performances had anything to do with potential arm issues or not, but he'll now at least have an opportunity to mentally reset while on the shelf. In a corresponding move, Arizona recalled right-hander Justin Martinez from Triple-A Reno on Tuesday. Rotowire.com 34 minutes ago

  • Not yet throwing
Silseth (elbow) has been doing strengthening and plyometric activities, but he hasn't yet resumed throwing, per MLB.com.

Advice: Silseth was placed on the 15-day IL on April 8 due to right elbow inflammation. A subsequent MRI cleared the hurler of any ligament damage, and an initial timeframe of three weeks was established for his return. However, it's not clear if Silseth will be able to meet that timeline given that he isn't yet throwing. Prior to getting hurt, Silseth had allowed six earned runs while posting a 12:4 K:BB over eight innings of work. Rotowire.com 34 minutes ago

  • Returns to Arizona
The Diamondbacks recalled Martinez from Triple-A Reno on Tuesday.

Advice: Martinez appeared in two games with the D-backs before being sent down to Triple-A on Sunday, throwing three scoreless innings while striking out two batters and walking four. He'll give Arizona additional depth in its bullpen as Kyle Nelson (shoulder) lands on the 15-day IL. Rotowire.com 36 minutes ago
  • Jakob Junis undergoing further evaluation
Jakob Junis is being evaluated for a concussion.

Advice: Junis will continue to be closely monitored after being struck in the head during batting practice earlier this week. The 31-year-old righty was already on the injured list with a shoulder impingement. There should be some clarity on his status in the coming days. Rotoworld 55 minutes ago

  • Slated for bullpen session
Quijada (elbow) is expected to throw a bullpen session Tuesday, per MLB.com.

Advice: The bullpen session will be a significant step for Quijada as he continues to work toward a return from the Tommy John surgery he underwent last May. The lefty hurler has been rehabbing at the Angels' training facility in Arizona and is on track to return to the big-league club's bullpen around midseason. Rotowire.com Today, 4:10 pm
