• Ian Gibaut (forearm) resumes rehab assignment
Ian Gibaut (forearm) resumed his minor league rehab assignment at Triple-A Louisville on Wednesday.

Advice: The 30-year-old right-hander had been working his way back from a forearm strain that he suffered early in spring training, but he was pulled off of the rehab assignment in mid-April after suffering a minor setback. It’s good to hear that he’s back on the mound and trending in the right direction now though. If all goes according to plan, he could be an option for the Reds in a week or two. • Jhoan Duran to make another rehab outing on Friday
Jhoan Duran (oblique) will make another appearance in a minor league rehab game on Friday.

Advice: Duran looked electric in his first appearance at Triple-A St. Paul on Tuesday, despite allowing a pair of runs on four hits. He also struck out three batters, fired 15 of his 27 pitches for strikes and averaged 98.1 mph on his heater. If all goes well with Friday’s outing, he could then be cleared to rejoin the Twins’ bullpen. Rotoworld 24 minutes ago

  • A.J. Puk to pitch out of bullpen once healthy
Marlins’ manager Skip Schumaker told reporters on Wednesday that A.J. Puk (shoulder) will work out of the team’s bullpen when he returns from the injured list.

Advice: The 28-year-old left-hander attempted to transition back to the rotation this season, but he wound up making just four starts and compiling a miserable 9.22 ERA, 2.63 WHIP and a 12/17 K/BB ratio over 13 2/3 innings. His already diminished fantasy value will drop down to around zero, unless he can work his way into the closer’s role at some point during the season. Rotoworld 26 minutes ago

  • Rangers recall Grant Anderson from Triple-A
Rangers recalled RHP Grant Anderson from Triple-A Round Rock.

Advice: Anderson seems to be the go-to option every time the Rangers need an extra arm in the bullpen, and he’ll get the call once again with Austin Pruitt (knee) heading to the injured list. The 26-year-old hurler holds an 18.00 ERA, 2.50 WHIP and a 3/0 K/BB ratio over two innings with the Rangers this season. Rotoworld 41 minutes ago
  • Rangers place Austin Pruitt (knee) on 15-day IL
Rangers placed RHP Austin Pruitt on the 15-day injured list with a right meniscus injury.

Advice: No word from the Rangers yet on the severity of the injury, or how long Pruitt may be sidelined for. Grant Anderson was recalled from Triple-A Round Rock in a corresponding move to take his place in the club’s bullpen. Pruitt had registered a 12.46 ERA, 2.54 WHIP and a 1/3 K/BB ratio over 4 1/3 innings in four appearances with the big league club. Rotoworld 44 minutes ago

  • Back in majors
The Rangers recalled Anderson from Triple-A Round Rock on Wednesday, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Advice: Anderson has allowed four earned runs across two innings in the majors this season, and he'll now return to Texas with Austin Pruitt (knee) headed to the injured list. The 26-year-old right-hander figures to work exclusively in low-leverage situations while with the Rangers. Rotowire.com 50 minutes ago
  • Lands on IL
The Rangers placed Pruitt on the 15-day injured list Wednesday with a right meniscus injury, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Advice: Pruitt has been touched four six earned runs across 4.1 innings in his first four appearances, and he'll now be sidelined for the two weeks due to problems with his knee. Grant Anderson was recalled from Triple-A Round Rock in a corresponding move. Rotowire.com 54 minutes ago

  • Another rehab outing on tap
Duran (oblique) is scheduled for a second rehab appearance with Triple-A St. Paul on Friday, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.

Advice: According to Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com, the right-hander averaged 98.1 mph with his fastball -- down a couple ticks from the usual triple digits -- and surrendered two runs on four hits over one inning during Tuesday's rehab outing, but he felt fine physically during and after the appearance. Duran said he dealt with some mechanical issues during spring training that affected his velocity, and it's possible those problems flared up again. It's unclear how many rehab outings the Twins are looking for, but the 26-year-old could return within the next week if he continues to progress with no issues. Rotowire.com Today, 4:33 pm

  • Returning to bullpen once healthy
Manager Skip Schumaker said Wednesday that Puk (shoulder) will pitch out of the bullpen upon his return from the 15-day injured list, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Miami's rotation recently got back Edward Cabrera and could soon add Braxton Garrett (shoulder), so Puk will shift back to a relief role once he's recovered from the shoulder fatigue. The left-hander went 0-4 with a 9.22 ERA and 12:17 K:BB over 13.2 frames in four starts, so the move isn't a major surprise. Puk primarily worked as the Marlins' closer last season and had 15 saves with a 3.97 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 78:13 K:BB across 56.2 innings, but he'll likely need to be eased back into a high-leverage role after his disastrous run in the rotation.
