    • Kris Bryant lands back on IL with rib contusion
Rockies placed INF/OF Kris Bryant on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to June 3, with a left rib contusion.

Advice: Bryant has had just 101 plate appearances this season and is slashing .186/.307/.279 with just two homers and 10 RBI. What injuries have done to the 32-year-old’s career is tough to see. There is likely no fantasy value here. Michael Toglai was called up in a corresponding move. Rotoworld Thursday, 12:02 pm

    • Royce Lewis not in Thursday’s lineup vs. Yankees
Royce Lewis is out of the starting lineup for Thursday’s series finale against the Yankees.

Advice: It’s just a routine day off for the 25-year-old who’s working his way back from a pretty major quad injury. Lewis has homered in each of his first two games back and looks primed to put up major fantasy value for the remainder of the season if he can just remain healthy. Rotoworld Thursday, 11:58 am

    • Sitting down Thursday
Lewis isn't in the Twins' lineup for Thursday's game against the Yankees.

Advice: Lewis will get a breather Thursday after hitting a home run in each of his first two games since returning from the injured list Tuesday. Jose Miranda will take over at the hot corner, allowing Carlos Santana to start at first base. Rotowire.com Thursday, 11:09 am

    • Homers again Wednesday
Lewis went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's loss to the Yankees.

Advice: Lewis homered in his return from a lengthy absence due to a quad injury Tuesday, and he left the yard again Wednesday in his second game back. The third baseman has played in just three contests this season, but he's maximized his opportunities with a long ball in each of those games. Altogether, he's gone 4-for-7 with the three homers, three RBI and two walks across nine plate appearances. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 10:06 pm

    • Tallies three hits in victory
Volpe went 3-for-5 with a triple and two runs against Minnesota in a 9-5 win Wednesday.

Advice: Volpe was responsible for one-third of the Yankees' nine hits in the victory, and he scored twice from atop the team's lineup. It was the fifth time this season the second-year shortstop has collected three or more hits in a game. Volpe had a 21-game hitting streak snapped May 30, but he's picked things right up since then, building a five-game hitting streak during which he's batted .364 (8-for-22). • IL stint expected
The Rockies will likely place Bryant (back) on the 10-day injured list Thursday, Luke Zahlmann of The Denver Gazette reports.

Advice: Wednesday marked the third game in a row Bryant missed due to his sore back, which has not responded well to treatment. He will likely be joined on the IL by Sean Bouchard (ankle), and the Rockies will presumably call up a couple of minor leaguers to fill the openings in their outfield. Injuries have limited Bryant to just 24 games so far this season, during which he's slashed .186/.307/.279 with 10 RBI. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 7:00 pm

    • Anthony Volpe collects three hits in win Wednesday
Anthony Volpe went 3-for-5 with a triple and a pair of runs scored as the Yankees topped the Twins on Wednesday evening in New York.

Advice: Volpe led off the home half of the first inning with a single and came around to score the game’s first run on a ground ball off the bat of Aaron Judge. He also singled in the fifth inning and scored on Aaron Judge’s three-run triple. Volpe then smacked a three-bagger of his own in the eighth inning, but the Bombers couldn’t cash him in. He’s having an outstanding season atop the Yankees’ lineup — hitting .290/.355/.448 with six homers, 25 RBI and 11 stolen bases. Rotoworld Wednesday, 6:46 pm

    • Royce Lewis homers again in loss to Yankees
Royce Lewis homered for the third consecutive game on Wednesday, but it wasn’t enough to lead the Twins past the Yankees.

Advice: Lewis went deep on opening day and then crushed another homer in his return from the injured list on Tuesday. He followed that up with a 373-foot (100.3 mph EV) solo shot off of Dennis Santana in the seventh inning that pulled the Twins to within six runs at 9-3. He finished the night 1-for-4 and is now hitting .571/.667/1.857 with three homers and three RBI through his first three games on the season. He just needs to stay healthy. • Kris Bryant (rib) likely heading to injured list
Kris Bryant is expected to be placed on the injured list prior to Thursday’s series opener against the Cardinals in St. Louis.

Advice: The 32-year-old slugger missed his third consecutive game on Wednesday due to soreness in his rib that he suffered while making a twisting catch against the Dodgers over the weekend — and he did not respond to treatment that was done on Wednesday. The oft-injured outfielder is hitting an abysmal .186/.307/.279 with just two homers and 10 RBI in 101 plate appearances on the season. Even in deeper fantasy leagues, it’s time to cut bait if you haven’t already done so. Rotoworld Wednesday, 3:40 pm
