    • Anthony Rizzo remains on bench versus Royals
Anthony Rizzo is on the bench again Monday for the series opener against the Royals.

Advice: The Yankees have opted for DJ LeMahieu at first and Oswaldo Cabrera at third for a second straight game tonight. They also could use Cabrera in right field tonight with Juan Soto DHing and Aaron Judge sitting, but they opted to give Jahmai Jones a very rare start in that spot. • Held out again Monday
Rizzo is absent from the lineup for Monday's game in Kansas City.

Advice: Yankees manager Aaron Boone had indicated the struggling Rizzo would receive a second straight day off, and that's exactly what will happen. Rizzo has just one hit over his last 29 at-bats. DJ LeMahieu will handle first base Monday while Oswaldo Cabrera plays third base. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 3:29 pm

    • Byron Buxton on the bench on Monday
Byron Buxton is not in the starting lineup for the Twins against the Rockies on Monday.

Advice: Buxton is hitting just .223/.276/.357 in 47 games with three home runs and three steals. He’s sporting a 31 percent strikeout rate and is just 3-for-26 to start June. At 30 years old, after multiple injury-plagued seasons, it’s possible Buxton will never recapture the form he showed in his earlier seasons. Manuel Margot will start in center field for the Twins on Monday, and, Buxton does not need to be held in shallow fantasy leagues. Rotoworld Yesterday, 12:38 pm

    • Not in Monday's lineup
Buxton is absent from the lineup for Monday's game against the Rockies.

Advice: Buxton is slashing just .185/.243/.308 in 19 games since coming off the injured list May 18 and is only 3-for-26 with a 32.1 percent strikeout rate so far in June. Manuel Margot will get the call in center field for the Twins on Monday. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 12:37 pm

    • Gets breather after big game
Rutschman is out of the lineup for Monday's game in Tampa Bay.

Advice: Rutschman started the first three games of the series at catcher and had been in the lineup for each of the last 10 contests for the Orioles. However, after going 3-for-5 with a grand slam and a career-high six RBI in Sunday's 9-2 win, Rutschman will get a breather Monday as Baltimore goes for the rare four-game sweep. James McCann will pick up the start behind the dish. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 12:24 pm

    • Adley Rutschman gets a day off on Monday
Adley Rutschman is not in the starting lineup on Monday against the Rays.

Advice: It’s just a routine day off for the catcher amid a tremendous season with a .306 average, 13 home runs, and 49 RBI. James McCann will start behind the dish. Rotoworld Yesterday, 12:19 pm

    • Report: Yankees might eye lefty relievers
According to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic, it “would be ideal” for the Yankees to pursue a “wipeout lefty” before the trade deadline.

Advice: Rosenthal specifically mentions Marlins’ Tanner Scott or Andrew Nardi and acknowledges that “The acquisition cost for a pre-arbitration reliever such as Nardi...would be considerably higher.” He also mentions that the Yankees would be open to high-strikeout-rate right-handed relievers as well, but a lefty is an ideal fit. This, of course, highlights one of the threats to Tanner Scott’s fantasy value as he would almost certainly lose his closer role if he were traded to the Yankees. You’re unlikely to get much for Scott in a trade in fantasy leagues, but his time as a closer appears to be running out with the trade deadline looming. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:17 am

    • Report: Yankees not ready to give up on Rizzo
According to The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal, the Yankees “are not ready to give up on [Anthony Rizzo] just yet.”

Advice: Rizzo was out of the starting lineup on Sunday and reportedly will be again on Monday. The 34-year-old has been struggling mightily this year. As Rosenthal points out, Rizzo’s .284 slugging percentage against starting pitching is the lowest in the majors, and “since 2022 his .235 batting average against fastballs is the second lowest, ahead of only the Blue Jays’ Daulton Varsho.” Considering that Rizzo is now playing below-average defense at first base, it seems logical for the Yankees to look for an upgrade. Still, manager Aaron Boone has not been willing to admit as much. “There’s no question over the last two, three weeks especially, it’s been a little bit of a struggle,” Boone said. “When you’re going through it and making little adjustments, they don’t always take right away.” Considering Rizzo is hitting .231/.323/.413 since the beginning of 2022 with a 111 wRC+, it’s now been a few years since he’s really given the Yankees’ lineup much. If they want to compete for a World Series this year, Boone may need to be open to a change at first base. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:13 am

    • Swats home run Sunday
Cabrera went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Sunday's 6-4 win over the Dodgers.

Advice: Cabrera opened up the scoring with a solo home run off the right field foul pole in the third inning. It was his first home run since May 1 and his first extra-base hit since May 5. He started off the year cooking at the plate but has cooled off considerably and now finds himself in a depth role with the return of DJ LeMahieu to the lineup. For the year, Cabrera is slashing .238/.278/.360 with five homers, 22 RBI, 20 runs and a 10:33 BB:K in 176 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 3:41 am
