    • Jorge Polanco (hamstring) should be back Friday
Jorge Polanco should be ready to play Friday after missing a second straight start Wednesday with hamstring tightness.

Advice: Luis Urias is filling in for Polanco, with Josh Rojas moving from third to second. Rotoworld 13 minutes ago

    • Out Wednesday with hamstring injury
Polanco (hamstring) is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Royals, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Polanco will take a seat for the second day in a row while he manages a tight right hamstring. The Mariners are viewing him as day-to-day, but a trip to the injured could become more realistic if Polanco is still not available to start coming out of Thursday's team off day. • Nabs win Tuesday
Scott (2-4) picked up the win in Tuesday's extra-inning victory over the Tigers, giving up a hit and a walk in a scoreless ninth inning. He struck out two.

Advice: Rather than being held back for a possible save situation in extra innings on the road, Scott got the call in the ninth with the score tied 0-0 and was able to escape the jam he created. The southpaw hasn't allowed an earned run in 10 straight appearances, but Scott's been far from sharp during that time, posting an 11:7 K:BB in 9.1 innings. That's still an improvement on his early-season performance, and his 2.12 ERA on the year isn't supported by his 1.53 WHIP or 18:17 K:BB in 17 frames. Scott is still the Marlins' closer and has converted four of five save chances, but A.J. Puk got the save in the 10th inning Tuesday and could be a threat to take the job now that he's moved back into the bullpen. Rotowire.com Today, 9:24 am

    • Dominant in Tuesday's win
Sale (6-1) picked up the win in Tuesday's 7-0 victory over the Cubs, scattering two hits over seven scoreless innings. He struck out nine without walking a batter.

Advice: The veteran southpaw simply overmatched Chicago's hitters, and the only runner to get into scoring position against Sale came after one of his two HBPs on the night. He generated 30 called or swinging strikes among his 92 pitches as he produced his second straight quality start and fourth of the season. Sale will take a 2.54 ERA, 0.89 WHIP and eye-popping 61:8 K:BB through 49.2 innings into his next outing, which lines up to come at home early next week against the Padres. • Chris Sale stays hot in domination of Cubs
Chris Sale threw seven shutout innings in a 7-0 win over the Cubs, allowing just two hits and striking out nine.

Advice: He’s now allowed just two runs over his last 25 innings. Sale’s slider carved up the Cubs all game, with a 44 percent whiff rate and 34 percent CSW on the pitch. The average exit velocity on all contact against Sale was just 81 mph as the left-hander mowed down the Cubs’ order. The effort gave him a 2.54 ERA on the year to go along with 61 strikeouts to just eight walks in 49 2/3 innings. He has been every bit the ace he was back before his injuries and there’s no reason to doubt he can keep it up as long as he can stay healthy. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:53 pm

    • Byron Buxton (knee) starting rehab assignment
Byron Buxton (knee) will begin a minor league rehab assignment on Wednesday with Triple-A St. Paul.

Advice: Buxton should be ready to return to Minnesota’s lineup at some point later this week after getting into a couple rehab contests. The 30-year-old center fielder has been out since early May due to right knee inflammation. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:20 pm

    • Jorge Polanco (hamstring) not in Tuesday’s lineup
Jorge Polanco (hamstring) is not in the lineup for Tuesday’s contest against the Royals.

Advice: Polanco will sit out Tuesday’s contest to rest and recover following an early exit from Monday’s series opener due to right hamstring tightness. It’ll be Josh Rojas, who is batting .375 (21-for-56) with two homers and three steals in 16 games since being moved to the leadoff spot back on April 24, taking over at the keystone in his absence. • Held out Tuesday
Polanco (hamstring) isn't in the Mariners' lineup for Tuesday's game against the Royals.

Advice: Right hamstring tightness forced Polanco out of Monday's contest, and he will get an additional day to recover Tuesday. Josh Rojas will cover second base as a result, allowing Luis Urias to start at the hot corner and bat ninth. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 2:14 pm

    • Byron Buxton (knee) nearing rehab assignment
Byron Buxton (knee) is close to starting a minor league rehab assignment.

Advice: Twins manager Rocco Baldelli told reporters Buxton will test out his right knee on Tuesday at Target Field before the club determines whether he’s ready to head out on a rehab assignment. The 30-year-old center fielder landed on the injured list back in early May with right knee inflammation and figures to be back before the end of the month. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:44 pm
