      Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said Tuesday that Alvarez (thumb) will begin a rehab assignment with Double-A Binghamton on Thursday, Jorge Castillo of ESPN.com reports.

      Advice: Mendoza offered that Alvarez will catch 5-to-7 innings in his first game with Binghamton and build up from there. Alvarez is five weeks removed from undergoing surgery to repair a torn UCL in his left thumb.       Francisco Alvarez (thumb) will begin a rehab assignment with Double-A Binghamton on Thursday.

      Advice: That according to Mets manager Carlos Mendoza, who also told reporters the catcher is expected to be behind the plate for five to seven innings. Alvarez was able to take batting practice over the weekend, and the 22-year-old backstop was reportedly hitting the ball hard as he works his way back from the thumb injury that has kept him out since April.       Abrams went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI in Monday's win over Atlanta.

      Advice: The shortstop launched a solo shot off Charlie Morton in the second inning, giving the Nationals an early 5-0 lead. Abrams has gone yard in back-to-back contests to snap a 22-game power drought, but he hasn't crawled out of his May swoon quite yet -- he hasn't stolen a base in 19 straight games, and he's slashing just .221/.237/.338 over that stretch with a 1:18 BB:K.       Alvarez (thumb) was reaching exit velocities over 100 miles per hour during batting practice over the weekend, Will Sammon of The Athletic reports.

      Advice: The 22-year-old catcher is still wearing a splint on his surgically repaired thumb, however, and the Mets aren't going to rush him back from the 10-day injured list. The team may also use his recovery period to have him work on his positioning behind the plate, as Alvarez has a tendency to be overeager reaching for pitches and is susceptible to getting his glove hand smacked by a swing.     • Abrams hits ninth home run Monday
      CJ Abrams went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and a sacrifice fly against the Braves on Monday.



      Advice: The Nationals scored four runs in the first inning and Abrams’ solo shot in the second inning made the score 5-0. He hit 18 home runs in 151 games last year and is halfway to that mark in only 49 games so far this season. Fantasy managers didn’t draft Abrams for his power, though. While he stole 47 bases last year, he has just eight steals so far this year.

      MJ Melendez went 1-for-3 with a single on Monday in the Royals’ loss to the Twins.

      Advice: It’s been a struggle this season at the dish for Melendez as he’s batting just .179 (27-for-151) with four homers and two steals through 47 games. Perhaps the biggest concern here is that he hasn’t connected for a home run since back on April 19. Rotoworld Monday, 1:41 pm

      Advice: Carter's hitless run reached 20 consecutive at-bats, and he's just two for his last 38. With Wyatt Langford (hamstring) possibly set to return Tuesday, the Rangers could send Carter back down to the minors to fix whatever is not working for him right now.       India went 1-for-4 with a stolen base, two RBI and a run scored in Sunday's 4-1 win over the Dodgers.

      Advice: India helped the Reds sweep the weekend series against the Dodgers by delivering a two-out, two-run single as part of Cincinnati's four-run third inning. He then swiped his fifth base, putting himself in scoring position to cross the plate on a Nick Martini single. India went 4-for-10 in the three-game sweep with two extra-base hits and six RBI.       Advice: Abrams broke out of a minor slump Sunday, slugging his first home run since April 29 and recording his first RBI since May 18. He has cooled off significantly in the month of May, slashing .209/.225/.256 with four RBI and eight runs scored.
