    • Cranks 23rd homer
Naylor went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 5-0 win over the Tigers.

Advice: Naylor opened the scoring in the fourth inning, launching a 3-2 pitch from Alex Faedo for his 23rd homer of the year. Naylor's gone 3-for-8 with a pair of RBI in his last two games after missing the Guardians' previous three contests with "general soreness". Overall, the 27-year-old Naylor is slashing .241/.320/.477 through 413 plate appearances this season with 74 RBI, 58 runs scored and five stolen bases. Rotowire.com Today, 12:51 pm

    • Shaky in 19th save
Bednar allowed a run on two hits and two walks over one inning, earning the save in Monday's 5-3 win over the Astros.

Advice: Bednar had a three-run lead to protect, but he made things hairy. He allowed three straight batters to reach with one out, then walked Yordan Alvarez with the bases loaded and two outs. Yainer Diaz's popout ended the threat as Bednar escaped with his third save over five appearances since he returned from an oblique strain. The right-hander is 19-for-22 in save chances this year despite a 4.95 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 36:10 K:BB over 36.1 innings. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:33 pm
    • David Bednar picks up save despite allowing run
David Bednar allowed a run but still got a save Monday against the Astros.

Advice: Bednar loaded the bases, and in a 5-2 game, the Pirates decided not to risk a walk-off grand slam to Yordan Alvarez and intentionally walked him to drive in a run with two outs. He was able to get Yainer Diaz out to with a pop-up to Oneil Cruz, and despite allowing a run Bednar was able to pick up his 19th save. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:12 pm
    • Returning after three-game absence
Naylor (general soreness) will start at first base and bat cleanup in Monday's game against the Tigers.

Advice: The Guardians held Naylor out of the lineup for the past few days while he contended with what manager Stephen Vogt had described as several minor injuries, but a stint on the injured list never appeared to be in consideration for the slugging first baseman. Naylor had been available off the bench Saturday and Sunday against the Tigers, though the Guardians opted to stay away from him to give him two true rest days. The Guardians will be hoping that the time off was enough for Naylor to recharge after he had turned in a lowly .130/.231/.174 slash line over his first seven starts coming out of the All-Star break. • Dodgers acquire Tommy Edman in three-team deal
Dodgers acquired INF/OF Tommy Edman and RHP Oliver Gonzalez from the Cardinals and RHP Michael Kopech from the White Sox in a three-team deal.

Advice: Gondalez is a 17-year-old currently pitching in the Dominican Summer League. It’s kind of surprising the Dodgers paid such a significant price for Edman in light of the wrist injury that’s kept him out all year, but if he’s right — and they obviously must believe he is — he’ll be great to have around as an option in center and at both middle infield spots. He doesn’t excel against righties, but he’s always been adequate enough against them to perform as a decent regular. Edman is currently four games into a second rehab stint, and if all goes as hoped, he could be activated within a week. With Edman gone from St. Louis, it looks like Michael Siani will spend the rest of the season as a starter. Depending on exactly how they want to line things up, James Outman or Andy Pages could be sent down by the Dodgers once Edman returns. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:46 pm

    • Dodgers acquire Edman in three-team deal
The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal reports that the Dodgers are acquiring Tommy Edman from the Cardinals in a three-team deal.

Advice: Michael Kopech is also coming to the Dodgers while the Cardinals are reportedly set to receive Erick Fedde from the White Sox as part of the multi-player deal. Edman has yet to play a game for the Cardinals in 2024 after offseason wrist surgery and is coming off a season in which he hit just .248; however, he has stolen at least 27 bases in three straight seasons and can play strong defense at multiple positions. The Dodgers have reportedly long been interested in Edman due to his defensive versatility and his ability to handle shortstop, so there’s a chance that he could move there when he’s activated from the 60-day IL in the coming weeks. That would potentially move Mookie Betts back to the outfield and cut into playing time for James Outman and Andy Pages. There are still a few question marks on how Edman’s wrist will impact his offensive production, but this is an upgrade for him. Rotoworld Yesterday, 11:42 am

    • Sent to Los Angeles
The Dodgers acquired Edman (wrist) and right-handers Michael Kopech and Oliver Gonzalez on Monday as part of a three-team deal involving the Cardinals and White Sox, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports. The Cardinals acquired right-hander Erick Fedde, outfielder Tommy Pham and a player to be named or cash considerations, while the White Sox received outfielder/infielder Miguel Vargas, infielders Jeral Perez and Alexander Albertus (undisclosed) and a player to be named later or cash considerations in the deal.

Advice: Edman has resided on the Cardinals' injured list all season while he's experienced a slower-than-anticipated rehab from October surgery on his right wrist in addition to battling a sprained ankle, but he had been in the midst of a rehab assignment with Double-A Springfield and looked to be on the cusp of making his 2024 MLB debut prior to Monday's trade. Since Edman has been used exclusively as a designated hitter up to this point during his rehab assignment, he'll likely need to make at least a few starts in the field in the minors before he's formally activated from the 60-day IL for his Dodgers debut. Whenever he gets the green light to join the big club, Edman should take on a near-everyday role while providing the banged-up Dodgers with some much-needed versatility, as he's capable of playing three infield spots as well as the outfield. Given his contact skills and speed, Edman could also be an option atop the batting order while Mookie Betts (hand) is on the shelf, though he's more likely to begin his Dodgers career in the bottom half of the lineup. • Earns 18th save
Munoz walked one batter in a scoreless inning and picked up a save against the White Sox on Sunday.

Advice: Munoz struggled with his command a bit after Saturday's four-out save; he threw 11 of 20 pitches for strikes but still finished off the 6-3 win. He extended his scoreless streak to 10.1 innings and is now 18 for 21 in save chances this season. Munoz lowered his ERA to 1.28 alongside a 51:19 K:BB through 42.1 frames. • Dodgers among teams interested in Tommy Edman
Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports that the Dodgers are among the teams interested in acquiring Tommy Edman from the Cardinals.

Advice: The versatile 29-year-old has yet to make his 2024 season debut due to a wide array of injuries, but that hasn’t stopped teams from inquiring on his availability. Where there’s smoke, there’s usually fire, so expect interest in Edman to heat up in the coming days. Rotoworld Sunday, 6:13 pm
