    • Heston Kjerstad collects two hits, doubles in loss
Heston Kjerstad went 2-for-4 with a double on Monday in the Orioles’ loss to the Guardians.

Advice: It’s time for Baltimore to figure out what they have with Kjerstad in an everyday role at this juncture since he literally has nothing left to prove at Triple-A Norfolk. The 25-year-old figures to get an opportunity to play most days against right-handed pitching in a corner outfield or designated hitter role and his minor-league track record suggests he’s going to hit for some over-the-fence pop. There might be an adjustment period here as he acclimates to facing high-level pitching everyday, but he’s one of the more talented hitting prospects in the game. It feels like only a matter of time before he’s an impact four-category fantasy contributor in the heart of Baltimore’s sublime young nucleus. Rotoworld Today, 6:27 pm

    • Starling Marte to go on IL with knee inflammation
Starling Marte has been told to rest for 15 days because of bone inflammation in his right knee.

Advice: Marte will surely go on the injured list Tuesday. That could lead to Brett Baty’s recall, but if the Mets would prefer to have both he and Mark Vientos keep playing every day, they do have an open spot on the 40-man to add an outfielder, probably Ben Gamel or Trayce Thompson. Tyrone Taylor and DJ Stewart will split time in right while Marte is out. Rotoworld Today, 6:17 pm
    • Gabriel Arias ejected from game in ninth
Gabriel Arias was ejected from Monday’s game in the ninth inning for arguing balls and strikes.

Advice: Arias brought up the strike two pitch with umpire Jeremy Riggs after swinging and missing at strike three and was thrown out, even though he didn’t seem to say much at all. Arias had a double and a run scored in four at-bats on the night. Rotoworld Today, 6:07 pm

    • Likely headed to IL
Marte has been advised to rest for the next 15 days after being diagnosed with bone inflammation in his right knee, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports.

Advice: Marte was sent for an MRI on Monday after experiencing soreness in his right knee, and while the team has yet to confirm that he'll be placed on the injured list, he figures to be sidelined for at least the next few weeks. Marte will likely be re-evaluated following the 15-day shutdown period to determine the next steps in his recovery. Rotowire.com Today, 5:05 pm
    • Begins running program
Gallo (hamstring) has started a light running program, Bobby Blanco of MASNSports.com reports.

Advice: Gallo suffered a significant hamstring strain June 11 and he's been on the 10-day injured list since. The running program is the first substantial step in his recovery and he'll likely have to ramp up his workload over a series of days prior to considering a rehab assignment. • Teoscar Hernández misses game for personal reasons
Teoscar Hernández flew home to the Dominican Republic for personal reasons and won’t play Monday.

Advice: Hernández is expected back on Tuesday. His absence tonight gives Jason Heyward a rare start versus a lefty. Rotoworld Today, 4:35 pm

    • Optioned to Triple-A
The Padres optioned Azocar to Triple-A El Paso on Monday.

Advice: Azocar will head down to the minors after serving mostly as a defensive substitute and pinch hitter/runner for the big club, reflected by the fact that he has just 79 plate appearances over 61 major-league games this season. Azocar's exit from the 26-man roster was to make room for Eguy Rosario, who was recalled from Triple-A El Paso in a corresponding move Monday. Rotowire.com Today, 4:29 pm

    • Nationals bring Harold Ramírez back to majors
Nationals selected the contract of OF Harold Ramírez from Triple-A Rochester.

Advice: Trey Lipscomb was sent down. Ramírez figures to take over as Eddie Rosario’s platoon partner versus lefties. He could also outproduce Joey Meneses against righties, but the Nationals probably aren’t going to want to play him over Meneses at first base. In fact, they gave him just one start there in his seven games for Rochester. He played right field twice and DH’d four times while hitting .375/.516/.417 in 31 plate appearances. • Rejoining starting nine Monday
Isbel (back) will start in center field and bat ninth in Monday's game against the Marlins.

Advice: Isbel will move back into the starting nine after a tight back kept him out of the lineup for the final two contests of the Royals' weekend series versus the Rangers. Garrett Hampson and Dairon Blanco both picked up one start apiece in center field while Isbel was on the bench. Rotowire.com Today, 4:02 pm
