      George Kirby logged a quality start in Tuesday night’s loss to the Orioles, giving up two runs on seven hits over his 6 1/3 innings.

      Advice: Kirby struck out five batters on the evening while issuing only one free pass. The Orioles scratched out a run against him in the fourth inning on an RBI single by Anthony Santander. They added another in the seventh inning on a one-out RBI single by Cedric Mullins — the final batter Kirby would face. Kirby piled up 14 swings and misses on 95 pitches in the ballgame — 11 on his heater — while posting a CSW of 26 percent. The Mariners mustered two hits and four walks but couldn't scrape together a run, leaving Kirby to take his first loss since May 24. The right-hander continues to give his team a chance to win, maintaining a 3.32 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and 101:10 K:BB across 105.2 innings through 18 starts this year.       Advice: Keller allowed eight hard-hit baseballs, including two home runs that accounted for five of the runs Keller allowed. He struck out five and walked nobody on the day, posting a 24 percent whiff rate and 33 percent CSW. Even though Keller has been performing better of late, there’s not much in the underlying numbers that suggests he’s become a different pitcher. He relies heavily on his cutter for success, and while that pitch was good tonight, the rest of his offerings didn’t miss a ton of bats.       Yankees pitching coach Matt Blake said Carlos Rodón is working to adjust his approach as team’s key on hitting his fastball.

      Advice: Speaking to The Athletic, Matt Blake said he doesn’t have long-term concerns with Rodón despite the left-hander allowing 20 earned runs and a 1.253 OPS in his last three outings. “I think it’s being ready to adapt your plan early because it’s clear that teams that can hit the fastball are targeting him early,” Blake said. “There are more guys like him who throw the ball hard with good profiles and... there’s just less room for error with that stuff. Even if that’s how you got paid, that’s not necessarily your map for success down the road. However, he didn't do anything else the rest of the afternoon, while the team as a whole mustered only one additional hit. Still, Hoerner managed to extend his hitting streak to eight games, and he's batting .344 during that stretch.
