    • Slugs grand slam
Hoskins went 1-for-4 with a grand slam in Friday's 8-5 loss to the Dodgers.

Advice: Hoskins opened July in an 0-for-13 skid before the grand slam in his second at-bat Friday. The blast gave the Brewers a 5-2 lead, but they mustered just one hit after that. Hoskins is slashing .218/.311/.402 with 12 homers, 42 RBI, 27 runs scored and two stolen bases over 270 plate appearances this season. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:40 pm

    • Clay Holmes blows save by giving up homer
Clay Holmes took his fifth blown save after giving up a game-tying two-run homer Friday against the Red Sox.

Advice: Holmes retired the first two batters he faced, but then a single and a homer ruined his night. The homer, a 405-foot blast from Masataka Yoshida, was just the second he’s allowed in 36 innings this season. He’s been stuck on 19 saves since June 9, and while that’s mostly the fault of his teammates, he has given up runs in five of his last seven appearances. Even though Holmes is almost certainly one of the game’s 15- or 20-best relievers, there is the chance that the Yankees will supplant him in the closer’s role at the trade deadline. • Rhys Hoskins hits grand slam in loss to Dodgers
Rhys Hoskins connected on a grand slam, but the Brewers fell to the Dodgers on Friday.

Advice: Hoskins took Tyler Glasnow deep with the bases loaded in the fourth to give Milwaukee a 5-2 lead. It also gave Hoskins his 12th homer of the season and brought his RBI total to 57. The power numbers aren’t too shabby. The .218 average leaves an awful lot to be desired. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:45 pm

    • Clay Holmes blows save against Red Sox
Clay Holmes allowed two home runs on two hits in a blown save on Friday against the Red Sox.

Advice: Holmes pushed the Red Sox to their final strike before Masataka Yoshida sent a sinker deep into the right field seats. The home run was just the second Holmes has allowed this season, matching his total from last season. It was also his fifth blown save in what’s been an up-and-down season so far. • Idle vs. southpaw
O'Hearn is not in the starting lineup for Friday's series opener against the Athletics.

Advice: O'Hearn will retreat to the bench Friday with Oakland sending southpaw Hogan Harris to the mound. O'Hearn is coming off an 0-for-4 effort with two strikeouts in Thursday's 7-3 loss to the Mariners, but since June 1 he is slashing .326/.381/.516 with four home runs and 19 RBI over 95 at-bats. Adley Rutschman will serve as the designated hitter Friday and bat second. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 4:16 pm

    • Back in action Friday
Bichette (forearm) will start at shortstop and bat second Friday against the Mariners.

Advice: Bichette was hit by a pitch during Wednesday's contest and had to sit out Thursday's game as a result, but he seems to be feeling well enough to play Friday. The 26-year-old has been having a down season at the plate, posting a career-worst .613 OPS in 308 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 3:57 pm

    • Takes third loss
Myers (5-3) took the loss against the Rockies on Thursday, allowing four runs on eight hits and one walk while striking out five over six innings.

Advice: Myers allowed multiple baserunners in each of the first two frames, leading to three runs coming home early for Colorado. He then cruised through the next two innings before surrendering a solo shot to Jake Cave in the sixth, marking the second game in a row in which the 25-year-old has given up a home run. Myers also allowed a season-high eight hits on the night en route to being handed his first loss since May 4 against the Cubs. On a positive note, he's now gone at least six innings in five of his last six starts. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 6:39 am
    • Surrenders four runs in defeat
Bassitt (7-7) took the loss against Houston on Thursday, allowing four runs on eight hits and four walks while striking out three batters over five innings.

Advice: Bassitt got off to a terrible start in allowing six of the first seven batters he faced to reach base, resulting in three Astros runs. The veteran hurler bounced back to give up just one more run over the remainder of his five frames, but the first-inning damage was enough to send him to his seventh loss of the season. Bassitt had been rolling coming into Thursday, posting a 1.41 ERA across his previous five starts, and the four runs he yielded against Houston were his most since he gave up seven runs against the Dodgers on April 26. Bassitt's overall numbers this season have been pretty much in line with what fantasy managers have come to expect from him -- he has a 3.43 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 94:41 K:BB across 102.1 frames. • Slugs 21st homer
Soto went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run and a walk in a loss to the Reds on Thursday.

Advice: Soto brought New York to within four runs with his two-run swat to center field in the seventh inning, but that was the final tally for either team. The All-Star outfielder is up 21 homers on the campaign, putting him on pace to surpass the career-high 35 long balls he hit last season. Soto has added 63 RBI, 70 runs, four steals and a .300/.438/.568 slash line through 385 plate appearances in his first season as a Yankee. Rotowire.com Thursday, 9:40 pm
