• Outrighted to Syracuse
Jay cleared waivers Friday and was sent outright to Triple-A Syracuse, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Jay allowed one earned run in four innings during his first career stint in the majors, and he will officially remain within the organization but no longer hold a spot on the 40-man roster. The 30-year-old southpaw has thrown 5.2 scoreless innings in Triple-A this season, and he could re-earn a roster spot if he continues to find success in the minors. Rotowire.com 9 minutes ago
  • Lands on injured list
The Diamondbacks rescinded the option of Frias to Triple-A Reno on Friday and placed him on the 15-day injured list with right shoulder inflammation, Steve Gilbert of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Frias was initially optioned to Triple-A after allowing three earned runs without recording an out Tuesday, but a shoulder injury will put a hold on his demotion. Logan Allen and Justin Martinez were added to the big-league roster Wednesday to provide extra bullpen depth. Rotowire.com 17 minutes ago
  • Mets outright Tyler Jay to Triple-A Syracuse
Mets sent LHP Tyler Jay outright to Triple-A Syracuse.

Advice: The 30-year-old had been designated for assignment on Thursday, but he passed through waivers unclaimed and will continue to function as excess bullpen depth for the Mets at the Triple-A level. Jay posted a 2.25 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and a 1/1 K/BB ratio over his four innings with the Mets. Rotoworld 22 minutes ago
  • Turnbull takes no-hitter into seventh in victory
Spencer Turnbull allowed just one hit over seven innings Friday in the Phillies’ 7-0 shutout of the White Sox.

Advice: Turnbull had a no-hitter into the seventh when Gavin Sheets broke it up, but he wasn’t going to be allowed to finish it anyway. He’s supposed to head back to the bullpen next week after Taijuan Walker returns (he’s due to make one more start first), but it sure looks like that would be a downgrade for the Phillies. It’s probably worth making the switch anyway, given that Turnbull seems like a long shot to hold up over the course of 30+ starts, but it’s going to be disappointing for those who have picked up Turnbull in fantasy leagues. He’s 2-0 with a 1.23 ERA in four starts. Rotoworld 24 minutes ago
  • Garrett Crochet roughed up for seven runs by Phils
Garrett Crochet was lit up for seven runs in three-plus innings by the Phillies on Friday.

Advice: The runs all came on homers, with Alec Bohm delivering a pair of three-run shots. Crochet allowed a total of four runs in his first three starts of the season, but he’s given up 12 in the last two, leaving him 1-3 with a 5.61 ERA. The stuff still looks good, but the team is awful and stamina is going to eventually be a major issue, given that Crochet pitched 54, zero and 25 innings the previous three years. • Chris Flexen goes four scoreless in relief
Making his first appearance since being sent to the pen, Chris Flexen pitched four scoreless innings with four strikeouts against the Phillies.

Advice: Flexen’s velocity was up a bit tonight, and he allowed just one hit and walked none after taking over for Garrett Crochet. He came in with an 8.78 ERA and a 7/6 K/BB in 13 1/3 innings over three starts. Rotoworld 24 minutes ago
  • Alec Bohm hits two three-run homers in victory
Alec Bohm hit a pair of three-run homers Friday against the White Sox.

Advice: That’s a great night, but his pitcher overshadowed him with a no-hit bid and then Travis d’Arnaud had to go and hit three homers (at least). Both of Bohm’s homers came off Garrett Crochet. The first was a 353-foot shot that Statcast says would have been out of two ballparks, but it doesn’t count for any less. Maybe it’s time for the Phillies to go back to Bohm in the cleanup spot; he currently has 160 points of OPS on JT Realmuto, who is batting one spot ahead of him. Rotoworld 24 minutes ago

  • Andrew Benintendi goes 0-for-4 in defeat
Andrew Benintendi finished 0-for-4 against the Phillies on Friday, dropping his average to .164.

Advice: Benintendi retroactively blamed a wrist injury for his poor showing last year. It’s possible the wrist injury has since spread throughout his body, which might explain why he has just one extra-base hit in 71 plate appearances this year. Unfortunately, there’s nothing really for the White Sox to do here other than keep playing him. Rotoworld 24 minutes ago
  • Gio Urshela leaves game with hamstring tightness
Gio Urshela was pulled from Friday night’s battle against the Twins due to right hamstring tightness.

Advice: Urshela sustained the injury while trying to hustle out a ground ball in the second inning. The severity of the injury is not yet clear, and the 32-year-old infielder will likely undergo additional testing on Saturday. If he’s forced to miss any time, the Tigers may be forced to call up Buddy Kennedy from Triple-A to provide depth for the remainder of their weekend series against the Twins. Rotoworld 26 minutes ago
