    • Corbin Burnes starting Friday against Rangers
Corbin Burnes will start Friday’s series opener against the Rangers.

Advice: Fresh off a scoreless start earlier this week for the American League during the Midsummer Classic, Burnes will take the ball for the Orioles’ second-half opener at Globe Life Field. It’ll be Grayson Rodriguez and Dean Kremer taking the ball over the weekend down in Texas. Rotoworld Today, 4:15 pm
    • Mariners set rotation for series against Astros
Luis Castillo will start Friday’s series opener against the Astros.

Advice: The real surprise here is that it’ll be George Kirby and Bryan Woo taking the ball this weekend against the division-rival Astros. However, Seattle manager Scott Servais told reporters recently that they don’t want Woo to have an extended break between starts. It’s possible those long layoffs have been leading to physical issues. Rotoworld Today, 1:42 pm
    • Tatis Jr. (femur) ramping up baseball activity
Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports Fernando Tatis Jr. (femur) underwent an MRI that “showed the progress in healing the Padres had hoped for.”

Advice: It’s an extremely important checkpoint that clears Tatis to “continue to incrementally increase his baseball activity.” He’s resumed playing catch and swinging a bat already, so he could move to facing live pitching soon, and then progress to a rehab assignment shortly after that. While that means he still may be weeks away from returning, it’s good to see that he’s making some progress entering the second half. Rotoworld Today, 11:46 am
    • Receives good news from MRI
An MRI this week on Tatis' injured right quadricep showed improved healing, and the outfielder is expected to incrementally increase his baseball activities, Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Advice: Tatis -- who is recovering from a femoral stress reaction -- has already begun playing catch and swinging a bat. A clearer timetable for Tatis' return from the 10-day injured list is unlikely to be available until he resumes running with no issues, but he certainly looks to be trending in a good direction. • Sonny Gray will start Friday vs ATL
Cardinals manager Oli Marmol announced that Sonny Gray will start on Friday against the Braves.

Advice: Gray has posted just a 4.41 ERA over his last 12 starts, but his season has been strong overall with a 3.34 ERA. Despite his struggles of late, the team views Gray as their ace and wanted him to lead them out of the break. Rotoworld Today, 9:21 am

    • Corbin Burnes to start All-Star Game
Corbin Burnes will start for the American League in the All-Star Game.

Advice: We’re guessing he’ll just go one, but Burnes was the last pitcher to throw more than one inning in the All-Star Game; he worked the second and third behind Max Scherzer for the NL In 2021, giving up two runs and taking the loss. Paul Skenes was already announced as the NL starter. Rotoworld Monday, 1:09 pm
    • On base four times Sunday
Lindor went 2-for-3 with two walks and an RBI in Sunday's loss to the Rockies.

Advice: The veteran shortstop heads into the All-Star break on a tear. Lindor got on base 10 times in 15 plate appearances during the three-game series against Colorado, and over his last 25 contests he's slashing .314/.397/.549 with nine doubles, five homers, seven steals, 18 RBI and 20 runs. • Takes loss Sunday
Duran (5-4) allowed an unearned run on one hit without retiring a batter to take the loss Sunday versus the Giants.

Advice: Duran gave up a triple to Mike Yastrzemski to lead off the bottom of the ninth inning, and it turned into a run after Brooks Lee's relay throw ended up in the dugout. It's a tough way for Duran to take a loss, which also ended his 7.2-inning scoreless streak, but it won't hurt his ERA, which remains at 2.93 to go with a 0.98 WHIP and 29:10 K:BB through 30.2 innings. Since Duran was pitching in a tied game before giving up the run, he also will avoid taking his second blown save of the year, and his status as the Twins' primary closer is not in question. • Mark Canha undergoing treatment on injured wrist
Mark Canha (wrist) sat out Sunday’s game against the Dodgers and is undergoing treatment on his injured right wrist.

Advice: Canha noted on Sunday that the injury has actually been bothering him for a while now and got to the point where he was unable to swing the bat with much ferocity. The Tigers are hopeful that the four days off over the All-Star break will be enough to alleviate the issue and allow him to return to action for Friday’s second-half opener against the Blue Jays.
