    • Day off versus left-hander
Chisholm is not in the lineup for Saturday's contest against the Nationals.

Advice: It's a rare day off for the left-handed hitting Chisholm as the Nationals send southpaw DJ Herz to the bump. Dane Myers is getting the start in center field. Rotowire.com 29 minutes ago

    • Goes on paternity leave
The Guardians placed Ramirez on the paternity leave list Saturday.

Advice: Ramirez will likely miss his team's remaining two games this weekend in Toronto before rejoining them for the start of a homestand Tuesday following Monday's scheduled off day. Johnathan Rodriguez is taking Ramirez's roster spot and Daniel Schneemann is getting a start at third base Saturday versus the Blue Jays. Rotowire.com Today, 9:25 am

    • Guardians place José Ramírez on paternity list
Guardians placed 3B José Ramírez on the paternity list.

Advice: Ramírez will miss the remainder of Cleveland’s weekend series in Toronto to be with his wife for the birth of their second child. It’ll be Johnathan Rodriguez coming up to take his active roster spot. The 31-year-old fantasy superstar, who holds a sublime .864 OPS with 18 homers and 11 steals in 291 plate appearances over 66 games this season, should be back from paternity leave early next week. • Swipes two bags in win
Volpe went 1-for-5 with a run and two stolen bases Friday in an 8-1 victory versus the Red Sox.

Advice: Volpe made the most of his fifth-inning single, as he proceeded to steal both second and third base before coming home on an Alex Verdugo double. The second-year shortstop is up to 15 thefts (on 18 attempts) this season, which is tied for 13th in the league. Volpe's power is down in comparison to his rookie campaign, but he's reduced his strikeout rate from 27.8 percent to 21.3 percent, which has helped produce a much-improved .271/.329/.414 slash line. • Transferred to 60-day IL
Strider (elbow) was transferred to the 60-day injured list Saturday.

Advice: Strider is already set to miss the remainder of the 2024 campaign after undergoing elbow surgery in April, so the move to the 60-day IL doesn't impact his outlook. The right-hander will still have his sights set on a return at some point early in the 2025 season, but in the meantime, Saturday's transaction opened a spot on the 40-man roster for Ramon Laureano, who had his contract selected from Triple-A Gwinnett. • Braves transfer Spencer Strider to 60-day IL
Braves transferred RHP Spencer Strider to the 60-day injured list.

Advice: The procedural move opens up a spot on Atlanta’s 40-man roster. Strider is targeting an early-season return to the Braves’ starting rotation next year after undergoing an internal brace procedure, not a full Tommy John ligament replacement operation, on his right elbow back in mid-April. • Hits fifth in return
Jones went 0-for-2 with two walks Friday against the Pirates.

Advice: Jones was activated from the injured list Friday after missing roughly six weeks due to back and knee injuries. He hit fifth in the order, which was a common spot in the lineup for him before he was sidelined. Jones will now seek to get his season on track, as he has just a .167/.252/.271 line with one home run and two stolen bases across 107 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Today, 6:08 am
    • Hunter Greene goes five in win over Brewers
Hunter Greene threw five innings of two-run ball against the Brewers on Friday.

Advice: Greene sported some of his best velocity of the year tonight, but he walked five and gave up a homer to William Contreras, leading to the early exit. He got the win anyway, moving him to 5-2 with a 3.61 ERA on the season. He really should be even better than this, but he needs to cut back on the walks some. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:24 pm
    • Delivers quality start
Ragans allowed three runs on six hits and a walk while striking out four over seven innings in a no-decision versus the Dodgers on Friday.

Advice: Ragans had just one bad inning -- he gave up a two-run home run to Miguel Rojas and a solo shot to Chris Taylor in the fifth. Aside from that, it was smooth sailing for Ragans, who earned his fifth quality start in his last six outings, though he has just two wins in that span. The Royals' ace is now at a 3.14 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 102:26 K:BB over 86 innings across 15 starts this season. He's given up more than three runs just twice, with both of those games being seven-run mishaps, so he's often been even more dominant than his surface stats would suggest. Ragans is projected to make his next start on the road versus the Athletics. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:04 pm
