• Back to Double-A
The Rockies optioned Chivilli to Double-A Hartford on Monday.

Advice: Chivilli received his second big-league call-up of the season June 3, and over his five appearances in the majors, he gave up five runs on eight hits while striking out two over 5.1 innings. He was sent back to Double-A to clear room on the 26-man active roster and in the bullpen for right-hander Jake Bird (elbow), who was reinstated from the 15-day injured list. • Lands on IL with shoulder strain
The Rockies placed Rogers on the 15-day injured list Monday with a left rotator cuff strain.

Advice: Over his five major-league appearances this season, the 29-year-old southpaw registered a 6.75 ERA and 1.50 WHIP over 9.1 innings. With Rogers going on the IL and Angel Chivilli getting optioned to Double-A Hartford, the Rockies filled the open spots in the bullpen by activating Justin Lawrence (shoulder) and Jake Bird (elbow) from the IL. • Activated from injured list
The Rockies reinstated Lawrence (shoulder) from the 15-day injured list Monday.

Advice: Lawrence had been on the shelf since May 27 with a right shoulder strain. He didn't look particularly good in his lone rehab appearance with Triple-A Albuquerque on Friday, allowing two runs on three hits one walk while registering one out. The Rockies were convinced enough in the 29-year-old's health to add him back to the big-league bullpen ahead of Monday's series opener with the Dodgers. He had previously picked up two saves in his 20 appearances with the Rockies prior to landing on the IL, but Lawrence will likely serve as a setup man for closer Tyler Kinley upon his return. • Returns from IL
The Rockies reinstated Bird (elbow) from the 15-day injured list Monday.

Advice: Bird had been on the IL since May 19 due to right elbow inflammation. Over his three rehab appearances with Triple-A Albuquerque and the rookie-level Arizona Complex League, Bird allowed one earned run while striking out five over three innings. The 28-year-old right-hander should settle into a middle-relief or setup role for the Rockies as the team begins a four-game series Monday against the Dodgers. Rotowire.com Today, 2:07 pm

Rockies placed LHP Josh Rogers on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to June 14, with a strained left rotator cuff.

  • Rockies get former closer Lawrence back from IL
Rockies activated RHP Justin Lawrence from the 15-day injured list.

Advice: Lawrence missed three weeks with a shoulder strain. It’ll probably take a little while, but he should work his way back into the closing mix for the Rockies as the year goes along. That’s no reason to roster him at the moment, though. Rotoworld Today, 1:50 pm
  • Rockies activate Jake Bird from injured list
Rockies activated RHP Jake Bird from the 15-day injured list.

Advice: Bird had a 6.10 ERA in 19 appearances before going on the injured list with elbow inflammation last month. He’ll try to win back a setup role. Rotoworld Today, 1:47 pm

  • Nearing mound work
Blue Jays manager John Schneider said that Romano (elbow) threw from 90-to-120 feet Monday, Kaitlyn McGrath of The Athletic reports.

Advice: According to Mike Wilner of the Toronto Star, if Romano responds well to Monday's workout, he'll be cleared to throw off a mound Wednesday for the first time since landing on the 15-day injured list June 1 with right elbow inflammation. Since he's a closer who typically doesn't pitch more than an inning in his appearances, Romano won't require an extensive ramp-up period, but the Blue Jays will still likely want to send him out on a brief minor-league rehab assignment prior to activating him from the IL. Yimi Garcia has served as the Blue Jays' primary closer while Romano has been on the shelf, but Garcia is considered day-to-day with an elbow issue of his own. Chad Green appears to be next in line for saves out of the Toronto bullpen. Rotowire.com Today, 1:41 pm

  • Day-to-day, no structural damage
Blue Jays manager John Schneider said Monday that Garcia is considered day-to-day after an MRI on his right elbow revealed no structural damage but showed "ulnar nerve symptoms," Hazel Mae of Sportsnet reports.

Advice: According to Mike Wilner of the Toronto Star, the Blue Jays are describing the right elbow soreness that forced Garcia out of a save chance in Sunday's 7-6 win over the Guardians is being viewed as a "stinger." The club isn't too concerned about the injury, though Wilner notes that if Garcia hasn't made a full recovery by Friday, the Blue Jays won't hesitate to place him on the injured list. Schneider intimated that the Blue Jays will likely stay away from Garcia for at least Monday's game versus the Red Sox, with the skipper naming Chad Green as the team's interim closer for however long Garcia is unavailable. Before leaving early Sunday, Garcia had converted three consecutive save chances to solidify himself as the Blue Jays' preferred ninth-inning man while two-time All-Star closer Jordan Romano (elbow) remains on the IL.
