    • Goes deep in victory
Freeman went 2-for-5 with a solo home run Thursday in a 5-3 win against Colorado.

Advice: Freeman accounted for the Dodgers' final run of the contest with his fourth-inning solo shot to center field. The veteran first baseman is up to 11 long balls on the season, with five of them coming in June. Freeman has added to his standout month with a .354 average, 12 RBI, 17 runs, two stolen bases and a 14:10 BB:K through 18 games. Rotowire.com 53 minutes ago
    • Notches second save in as many days
Hader earned a save against the Astros on Thursday, striking out two batters in one perfect inning.

Advice: Hader threw 12 of 14 pitches for strikes, including eight whiffs. The save was his second in as many days, marking the second time this season he's accomplished that feat. Despite a middling 3.74 ERA, Hader has been effective this season, converting 11 of 12 save chances and posting a 52:10 K:BB over 33.2 innings. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:39 pm

    • Struggles through five
Gore (6-6) suffered the loss Thursday, allowing four runs on 10 hits and two walks in five innings against the Diamondbacks. He struck out seven.

Advice: Gore was unable to match his opponent's efficiency on the mound, allowing 12 baserunners and needing 103 pitches to complete five frames. The Diamondbacks meanwhile needed only 87 pitches for the entirety of the contest including just 70 in seven innings by starter Ryne Nelson. Gore was done in by a lot of dink and dunk as nine of the 10 hits he allowed were singles. It was just the second time all season Gore has allowed more than three runs and was the fifth time he's eclipsed the 100-pitch plateau. The performance raised Gore's ERA from 3.24 to 3.49 while his WHIP lifted from 1.32 to 1.39. His next opportunity to toe the rubber is set for early next week when the Nationals travel to San Diego to take on the Padres. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 4:05 pm
    • Josh Hader strikes out two in save vs. White Sox
Josh Hader struck out two while firing a scoreless frame to get a save against the White Sox on Thursday.

Advice: Even with the two strikes, Hader needed just 14 pitches — 12 of those strikes — to get the save. The left-hander has now 11 in his first season as a member of the Astros, and he’s been much better than his 3.78 season ERA might indicate. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:04 pm

    • CJ Abrams day-to-day after MRI on left wrist
CJ Abrams is day-to-day after an MRI this week revealed a Ganglion cyst on his left palm near his wrist.

Advice: Nationals manager Dave Martinez told reporters Thursday that it isn’t a serious concern. We’re not medical professionals, but a Ganglion cyst is basically a non-cancerous lump that appears along the joints of the wrists or hands. It doesn’t sound like a serious concern moving forward as the issue mighty simply go away on its own, but it’s something Abrams will have to manage going forward. It wouldn’t be surprising to see Abrams back in Washington’s lineup at some point in the coming days. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:49 pm

    • Day-to-day following MRI on wrist
Abrams is considered day-to-day after an MRI revealed a ganglion cyst on his left wrist, Spencer Nusbaum of The Washington Post reports.

Advice: A ganglion cyst is a noncancerous lump which is commonly found on the tendons or joints of the wrists and hands. While the cyst has caused Abrams some discomfort, it's something that will often clear on its own. The shortstop could be back in the lineup this weekend in Colorado. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 1:02 pm

    • MacKenzie Gore allows 10 hits in loss to D-Backs
MacKenzie Gore allowed four runs while working five innings in a loss Thursday to the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Gore did strike out seven, but he allowed 10 hits while also issuing two walks. Unsurprisingly, this left Gore with a high pitch count, as he needed 103 pitches to get through those five frames. The 25-year-old southpaw was coming off back-to-back excellent outings, but outside of the strikeouts, there weren’t many positives here. Gore is scheduled to face the Padres next week. • Maikel Garcia gets a day off on Thursday
Maikel Garcia is not in the Royals’ lineup for Thursday’s game against the Athletics.

Advice: The 24-year-old is hitting just .145 in 16 games in June with 12 strikeouts. He does have four steals and 10 runs scored and is coming off a month of May where he hit .305, so this might be nothing but a brief cold stretch. The Royals will hope a day off helps him get back on track. In the meantime, Garrett Hampson will start at second base and hit eighth with Nick Loftin moving over to third base. • Not in Thursday's lineup
Abrams (wrist) is out of the lineup for Thursday's game versus the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Abrams was scratched from the lineup ahead of Wednesday's 3-1 win and was set to undergo an MRI on his left wrist. The results of his imaging haven't been revealed, but Abrams will miss a second straight start Thursday. The Nationals should have more information on the Abrams' condition before long. Ildemaro Vargas will fill in for Abrams at shortstop. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:25 am
