      Advice: Sale allowed nine hits, walked one and struck out four. He was due for a bad start after a dominant stretch where he won his last seven consecutive starts. He had his worst outing of the year against the Athletics. It’s the only time Sale was unable to complete five innings in 11 tries this year. His ERA increased from 2.11 to 3.06.     • Mitchell Parker allows three runs in loss to Guardians
      Mitchell Parker allowed three runs with five strikeouts over 5 2/3 innings in a loss to the Guardians on Saturday.

      Advice: Parker got into some trouble in the first inning, issuing two walks to load the bases before Kyle Manzardo brought two runners in to score on a single. José Ramirez would score a third run for the Guardians in the third inning on a wild pitch. Parker would pitch into the sixth without allowing another run, leaving with two outs and two runners on at 98 pitches. He struck out five on the day.       The Padres placed Darvish on the 15-day injured list Saturday with a left groin strain.

      Advice: Darvish had to make an early exit from his start Wednesday against Miami due to hamstring problems, but the issue appears to instead be groin-related. His move to the IL is backdated to Thursday, allowing him to be eligible to return June 14. He will be joined by fellow starter Joe Musgrove (elbow) on the injured list while Randy Vasquez and Logan Gillaspie come up from Triple-A El Paso to take their places.       Padres placed RHP Yu Darvish on the 15-day injured list with a left groin strain.

      Advice: Darvish was originally believed to be dealing with a hamstring issue, but it turns out to be a groin strain that will keep him sidelined for at least a few weeks. The 37-year-old righty lasted just three innings on Wednesday against the Marlins before exiting due to hamstring tightness and holds a solid 3.20 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and a 53/15 K/BB ratio over 56 1/3 innings (11 starts) this season.
