Ragans (5-5) earned the win over Miami on Monday, allowing one run on four hits and three walks while striking out 11 batters over six innings.

Advice: Ragans racked up 27 swings-and-misses -- the most by any pitcher in baseball this season -- en route to his first win since May 22. Despite the five-game stretch of starts without a victory, the southpaw has been pitching well, as he posted a 2.70 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 33:9 K:BB during the drought. Ragans' 11 punchouts Monday were his second-most this season, and he ranks third in MLB with 120 strikeouts on the campaign. He is also tied for third in the majors with 12 quality starts. • Homers in Monday's win
Ward went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run, a walk and an additional run scored in Monday's 5-1 win over the Athletics.

Advice: Ward gave the Angels all the offense they needed with his first-inning blast. This was his 13th homer of the season, but it's just his second over the last 24 contests. The outfielder may be coming back around at the plate, as he's hit safely in four straight games, but he's at a .241/.326/.431 slash line with 40 RBI, 37 runs scored and three stolen bases through 75 contests overall. • Ragans records 11 strikeouts on way to fifth win
Cole Ragans allowed one run in six innings and got the win in the Royals’ 4-1 victory over the Marlins on Monday.

Advice: Ragans gave up four hits, walked three and struck out 11. The win was his fifth of the season and first since May 22nd against the Tigers. Ragans is third in all of baseball with 120 strikeouts on the season trailing only Tyler Glasnow and Garrett Crochet. He lowered his ERA to 3.03 on the year. The 26-year-old left-hander is set to face the Guardians at home this weekend.

    • Yu Darvish has sore elbow, won’t return Tuesday
Yu Darvish is dealing with elbow inflammation will not return to the Padres rotation on Tuesday.

Advice: This is a new problem for Darvish, who has been out since June 1 with a strained groin, but the Padres are hopeful it’ll be only a minor setback. Adam Mazur will take his place Tuesday against the Nationals. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:58 pm

    • Dealing with elbow inflammation
Padres manager Mike Shildt said Monday that Darvish (groin) will not rejoin the rotation as expected Tuesday versus the Nationals due to "a little" right elbow inflammation, Dennis Lin of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Darvish had been slated to return from a nearly month-long absence with a groin injury, but now he has an elbow issue to contend with. Shildt's wording would seem to suggest it's believed to be a minor setback, but there are no guarantees, especially after Darvish missed the final month of last season with a bone spur in the elbow. Adam Mazur will start Tuesday against the Nationals. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 3:55 pm

    • Yu Darvish may not return this week
According to Kevin Acee of the San Diego Tribune, Yu Darvish (groin) did not throw his scheduled pre-start bullpen session, “and his status is up in the air.”

Advice: Padres manager Mike Shildt said, “We’re going to see what it looks like and have something for you [Monday].” The issue is apparently not related to the groin issue that has kept Darvish out since May 29th but without any information on what actually did keep Darvish from throwing, it’s impossible to say if it’s good news or bad news that it’s not related to his groin. We’ll keep locked to the news coming out of San Diego, but fantasy managers in weekly lineup lock leagues may want to err on the side of caution and keep Darvish out of starting lineups this week. • Jazz Chisholm Jr. returns at DH on Sunday vs. M’s
Jazz Chisholm Jr. (biceps) is in the lineup for Sunday’s series finale against the Mariners.

Advice: It’s a rare bit of positive injury news for Miami as Chisholm is back at designated hitter for Sunday’s series finale following an early exit from Saturday’s game due to right biceps tightness. It doesn’t sound like a serious concern at the moment and it’s certainly a welcome development for fantasy managers. Rotoworld Sunday, 9:08 am

    • Fans eight in no-decision
Parker did not factor into the decision in a loss to the Rockies on Saturday, allowing four runs on six hits and two walks over six innings while striking out eight.

Advice: All four runs against Parker came over the first three innings, topped off by a three-run blast from Brendan Rodgers. However, the right-hander would go on to finish strong, striking out the side in the sixth and fanning six of the final 12 batters he faced on the night. Parker matched his season high with eight strikeouts in the contest, and he's now gone at least six innings in three of his last four starts, posting a 15:5 K:BB over that stretch. • Mitchell Parker whiffs eight in no-decision
Mitchell Parker allowed four runs over six innings on Saturday in a no-decision against the Rockies.

Advice: The positive news here is that Parker notched eight strikeouts and managed to somewhat survive Coors Field’s high-octane offensive environment. He gave up six hits, including a three-run homer to Brendan Rodgers, which accounted for most of the damage against him in this one. He’s been a nice waiver wire addition for fantasy managers in deeper mixed leagues and will bring a respectable 3.30 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 58/17 K/BB ratio across 73 2/3 innings (13 starts) into a road tilt on Friday against the Rays.
