    • Max Meyer strikes out five on Friday at Triple-A
Max Meyer struck out five and allowed one run over four innings on Friday for Triple-A Jacksonville.

Advice: It was a nice rebound effort after a couple tough outings in a row for Meyer since being shipped back to the minors. The 25-year-old top pitching prospect showed some real promise in a handful of outings for the Marlins at the outset of the year, but it’s unclear when he’ll return to the majors at the moment. • Max Fried surrenders nine hits in loss
Max Fried surrendered three runs and nine hits in 4 1/3 innings Friday in a loss to the Padres.

Advice: Fried didn’t allow any hits in two of his previous three starts. He’d given up a total of seven in his last four. Tonight, though, he just couldn’t stop the bleeding. All nine hits he allowed were singles, and only four of them came on hard-hit balls. Fried definitely didn’t help himself by walking three batters along the way, but this still seems pretty fluky. He’s now 3-2 with a 3.81 ERA. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:45 pm
    • Tagged for nine hits in loss
Fried (3-2) took the loss Friday against the Padres, yielding three runs on nine hits and three walks over 4.1 innings. He struck out two.

Advice: Fried turned in his worst outing Friday since allowing seven runs on 10 hits against Arizona on April 6. The Atlanta lefty generated a measly four whiffs over his 88 pitches as the Padres lineup had his number all night. Fried looks to bounce back in his next start, slated to be against the Cubs in Chicago. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:10 pm
    • Peter Fairbanks earns fourth save on Friday
Peter Fairbanks worked a clean ninth inning striking out one Blue Jays on Friday for his fourth save.

Advice: Fairbanks finally saved his first game since returning from the IL. He’s allowed no earned runs with six strikeouts across four innings and looks back to his normal, dominant self. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:51 pm
    • Clay Holmes nails down 13th save
Clay Holmes struck out two White Sox to earn the save on Friday. He also walked one.

Advice: Holmes has arguably been the best relief pitcher in baseball this season not named Mason Miller. Yet to allow an earned run, he suppresses hard contact at an impressive clip and is running a career best 29 K%. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:08 pm

    • Dominant in first MLB win
Skenes (1-0) earned the win over the Cubs on Friday, issuing just one walk while striking out 11 over six hitless innings.

Advice: Skenes was lights out in his second big-league start -- he struck out the first seven batters faced while holding the Cubs without a baserunner until Michael Busch's one-out walk in the fifth inning. Skenes has certainly looked as-advertised to start his career -- he averaged 99.3 MPH with his fastball Friday, generating a 44-percent whiff rate with the pitch. The 21-year-old right-hander has allowed three runs through his first 10 innings while striking out 18. Skenes will look to keep rolling in his next outing, tentatively lined up as a home matchup with the Giants. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 2:33 pm

    • Kyle Manzardo rides the pine again on Friday night
Kyle Manzardo is not in the Guardians’ starting lineup for Friday night’s battle against the Twins.

Advice: Fantasy managers were hopeful that Manzardo would at least find himself as a regular against right-handed pitching once he was promoted from Triple-A Columbus, but that hasn’t been the case so far. The 23-year-old slugger has hit just .148/.207/.185 with zero RBI and a 10/1 K/BB ratio in his first 29 plate appearances at the game’s highest level. David Fry will function as the Guardians’ designated hitter on Friday night and will bat fifth against Simeon Woods Richardson and the Twins. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:26 pm

    • Paul Skenes goes six hitless, fans 11 in first win
Paul Skenes pitched no-hit ball for six innings, striking out 11, in the Pirates’ 9-3 win over the Cubs on Friday.

Advice: Skenes was overwhelming in striking out the first seven batters he faced, and he didn’t let up much after that. He allowed only one hard-hit ball, a 107-mph groundout from Miguel Amaya. In fact, six of his seven non-strikeout outs came on grounders. It was a clear step forward from his debut last week and even a little extra impressive because it came against a lineup that had just seen him. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:25 pm

    • Taking seat Friday
Manzardo is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Twins, Joe Noga of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.

Advice: Manzardo started the previous three contests and will receive a day off after he went 1-for-10 with a walk and a run scored. David Fry will serve as Cleveland's designated hitter Friday. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 2:03 pm
