      Advice: Garcia was briefly bumped down the order last weekend, but he hasn't really rebounded since returning to the leadoff spot for the last five games. His multi-hit effort Friday was his first since June 14 and just his third such game in June, a month in which he's batting .153 (15-for-98). The infielder is now at a .234/.288/.347 slash line with five home runs, 40 RBI, 51 runs scored and 21 steals over 82 contests, with his speed being the biggest upside in his game this year.       Maikel Garcia went 1-for-4 with a run scored, a triple, and an RBI against the Guardians on Thursday.

      Advice: Garcia tied the game at one with an RBI triple in the sixth inning and came around to score on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Vinnie Pasquantino. Those were the only runs the Royals scored on the night, but it was enough to squeak out a 2-1 victory. Garcia needs to have more of an impact if he’s going to retain his spot atop the Kansas City lineup for the rest of the season. He’s hitting .232 with a .629 OPS on the season.       Hoerner went 3-for-5 with a two-run home run and a stolen base in Thursday's 5-3, 10-inning win over the Giants.

      Advice: Hoerner blasted his third home run of the season in the third inning with a runner on and also stole his 14th base of the year The infielder is not known as a big power threat, as his career best in homers for a season is only 10, but he is a capable baserunner. Hoerner swiped a career-high 43 bases last year, and he had 20 stolen bases in 2022. Fantasy managers will hope he continues to run frequently the rest of the way.       Nico Hoerner went 3-for-5 with a homer and a stolen base for the Cubs in an extra-inning win over the Giants on Thursday.

      Advice: Hoerner swatted a two-run blast off Jordan Hicks in the third inning to give the Cubs a 2-0 lead. That’s only the third homer of the season for the 27-year-old, but the steal was already the 14th of the year. Hoerner missed time with a hairline fracture in his hand, and he’s a good bet to see a much higher average than the .246 mark he’s put up thus far in the second half.       Maikel Garcia went 0-for-4 with a pair of strikeouts on Wednesday in the Royals’ win over the Marlins.

      Advice: Yikes. Garcia’s latest hitless effort leaves him with a .174 (21-for-121) batting average with zero homers and six steals over his last 30 games.       Smith started at third base and went 1-for-3 with an RBI in Tuesday's 3-1 loss to the Brewers. He was also hit by a pitch.

      Advice: Smith gave the Rangers an early lead in the top of the first inning, but the offense was silenced for the last eight frames. The HBP was his second in as many games and third over the last five; he leads MLB in that category with 12. It was thought Smith's run at third base might come to end this week, but Josh Jung (wrist) experienced a setback and is not expected to return during the Rangers' road trip that ends Sunday in Baltimore.       Advice: Garcia drew a second consecutive start at the keystone and stole two bases in the first inning after leading off with a walk. The 24-year-old has struggled mightily in June, as he entered the contest slashing .145/.211/.169 with no homers and four steals across 90 plate appearances. The Kansas City infield became more crowded with CJ Alexander debuting and Michael Massey (back) returning from the injured list Monday (though Massey will serve as DH for now), so Garcia will have to start producing at the plate and on the basepaths to maintain a starting role.       Advice: Smith singled off Hoby Milner in the first inning to score Corey Seager from second, giving the Rangers an early 1-0 lead and their only run of the game.
