    Larnach went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer in Friday's loss to Detroit.

    Advice: In his third game back from the injured list, Larnach hammered a two-run shot in the first inning. It was his first home run and first multi-hit game of the 2024 season.     Ryan allowed four runs on seven hits and a walk over 5.1 innings in a no-decision Friday. He struck out six during the loss to Detroit.

    Advice: Ryan coughed up three runs in the first three innings Friday as he produced his worst start of the year. The 27-year-old has given up 10 runs (eight earned) over his last three appearances, driving his ERA up to 3.57 through 22.2 frames. He forced 12 whiffs on 93 pitches, all coming on the fastball and sweeper. Still searching for his first win, Ryan is lined up for a home matchup with the White Sox next week.   • Wenceel Perez leads Tigers past Twins on Friday
    Wenceel Perez went 3-for-5 with a triple and two RBI on Friday night, leading the Tigers to a 5-4 victory over the Twins in Minnesota.

    Advice: The 24-year-old outfielder tied up the score at 2-2 in the third inning with an RBI single off of Joe Ryan. He then swiped second base and dashed around to score the go-ahead run on an RBI single by Kerry Carpenter. He then led off the sixth inning with a triple off of Ryan and once again scored on a Carpenter single. With two outs in the ninth inning, the Twins opted to walk Mark Canha intentionally to face Perez, who responded by delivering an RBI single to center that gave the Tigers the 5-4 advantage.     Bohm went 2-for-4 with a pair of three-run homers in Friday's 7-0 victory over the White Sox.

    Advice: Bohm drove in six of the Phillies' seven runs Friday, launching three-run homers off Garrett Crochet in the first and third innings. It was quite a performance from the 27-year-old Bohm, who came into the day with just one homer on the year while going 3-for-17 in his previous six contests.     Foley issued a walk and struck out one batter in a scoreless inning Friday. He earned a save in the win over Minnesota.

    Advice: Foley worked around a two-out walk to finish off the 5-4 win Friday. He's now converted all six of his save chances and is riding a 10-inning scoreless streak to open the 2024 campaign.   • Triston McKenzie goes five in win over A’s
    Triston McKenzie worked five innings and allowed one run Friday as the Guardians bested the A’s 10-2.

    Advice: McKenzie’s stuff is diminished, but it was still good enough to hold this A’s lineup to three hits and strike out six. It seems unlikely that he’ll fare as well next time out against the Red Sox, but at least he’s due to miss the series in Atlanta starting next weekend. Rotoworld 18 minutes ago
     
  • Joe Boyle lit up for seven runs by Guardians
    Joe Boyle gave up seven runs and walked four in six innings Friday in loss to the Guardians.

    Advice: Boyle wasn’t hit particularly hard, surrendering just two extra-base hits, but he gave up enough contact in addition to the four walks to make this a rough night. He dropped to 1-3 with a 7.23 ERA as he prepares to take on the Yankees in the Bronx next time out. It’ll probably take a better showing to keep him in Oakland’s rotation.   • Tyler Freeman hits two-run homer against A’s
    Tyler Freeman went 2-for-4 and hit a two-run homer against the A’s on Friday.

    Advice: The homer was about as light as homers get; it left Freeman’s bat at 89.5 mph and was projected at 331 feet. Statcast says it wouldn’t have been a homer anywhere else. Freeman, though, deserved the break, considering he entered the night with an xBA that was 50 points higher than his actual .192 average. He’s not an option in standard mixed leagues, but he could surprise and prove rather useful in deeper formats. Rotoworld 18 minutes ago

  • Brent Rooker homers in return from injured list
    Brett Rooker came off the bench and homered in his second at-bat Friday against the Guardians.

    Advice: Rooker didn’t start in his return from the IL, but he replaced Lawrence Butler against a lefty in the sixth. He struck out then, only to homer against righty Scott Barlow in the ninth. We’re not sure whether Rooker is one of Oakland’s nine-best options against righties, but he seems like at least as good of a choice as Tyler Nevin, who started over him at DH tonight. None of this really matters outside of AL-only leagues, but playing time is a question for a number of A’s at the moment. Rotoworld 18 minutes ago
