• Tough night on basepaths
Vargas went 2-for-3 with an RBI but was caught stealing twice in Friday's loss to the Astros.

Advice: Getting the start at third base and batting ninth, Vargas has another good showing at the plate, but it was his misadventures on the basepaths that stood out in a 5-3 loss -- he was picked off at second base by Justin Verlander and caught in a rundown in the third inning, then thrown out trying to steal second base in the eighth. Vargas is batting .323 (10-for-31) with a 5:3 BB:K through 11 games and has been seeing semi-regular playing time around the infield, but Friday's performance won't endear him to manager Dave Martinez. • Serving as 27th man Saturday
The Marlins have appointed Munoz as the 27th man for Saturday's doubleheader against the Cubs.

Advice: Munoz will make his MLB debut and draw the start for the second game of Saturday's doubleheader. Munoz has struggled with Triple-A Jacksonville, giving up 13 earned runs on 10 hits and 12 walks over 10.2 innings while striking out seven. Rotowire.com 8 minutes ago

  • Swipes fourth bag
Garcia went 1-for-3 with a walk and a stolen base in Friday's loss to the Astros.

Advice: That's now four steals on the season for Garcia, including three in the last two games. The 23-year-old second baseman is having a strong start to the year overall, slashing .296/.333/.481 through 17 games with seven doubles, a homer, four runs and eight RBI, and he's hit either fourth or fifth in four straight games -- all against right-handed pitchers -- as the Nationals search for a batting order that can produce consistent offense. • Starting in first of doubleheader
Brujan is starting at shortstop and batting eighth in the Marlins' first game of their doubleheader against the Cubs on Saturday.

Advice: The switch-hitting Brujan will face off against Cubs right-hander Javier Assad in the first game of Saturday's doubleheader. Tim Anderson figures to start at shortstop in the second game against Chicago left-hander Shota Imanaga. Brujan has gone just 2-for-20 with one double, one RBI and one run to start the season. • A.J. Puk heads to IL with shoulder fatigue
Marlins placed LHP A.J. Puk on the 15-day injured list with left shoulder fatigue.

Advice: The move doesn’t come as a total surprise after Puk was obliterated for seven runs over three innings during Friday’s series opener against the Cubs. The 28-year-old southpaw’s dazzling spring training performance simply didn’t carry over to the regular season as he’ll get some time off the regroup after compiling a calamitous 9.22 ERA, 2.63 WHIP and 12/17 K/BB ratio across 13 2/3 innings (four starts). He can be safely dropped in all fantasy formats, if he wasn’t already. Rotoworld 18 minutes ago

  • Launches third homer
Stewart went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI in Friday's win over the Dodgers.

Advice: The 30-year-old drove a 96.3 mph fastball from Yoshinobu Yamamoto deep to right field in the second inning to open the scoring with a solo shot, then chipped in runs later in the contest with a sacrifice fly and a single. Stewart has hit safely in six of his last seven games, batting .368 (7-for-19) over that stretch with all three of his homers and all 10 of his RBI on the season. J.D. Martinez (back) will eventually join the roster as the full-time DH, but Stewart is doing what he can to prove he should remain in a prominent role once that happens. Rotowire.com 18 minutes ago
  • Marlins transfer LHP Josh Simpson to 60-day IL
Marlins transferred LHP Josh Simpson to the 60-day injured list.

Advice: The procedural move opens up a spot on Miami’s 40-man roster for righty Kyle Tyler. The 26-year-old southpaw has been out since spring training due to left elbow ulnar neuritis. There is no timetable for his return yet. Rotoworld 22 minutes ago

  • Stays hot Friday
Marte went 2-for-5 with a double, two runs scored, two RBI and a stolen base in Friday's win over the Dodgers.

Advice: The veteran outfielder has caught fire the last couple weeks. Over the last 12 games, Marte is slashing .315/.362/.463 with two homers, four steals, seven RBI and 11 runs, and he seems to be entrenched once again as the Mets' No. 2 hitter. After a down 2023 due to lingering health issues, the 35-year-old appears primed for a bounce-back campaign. Rotowire.com 23 minutes ago
  • Could be set for more work
Narvaez went 0-for-4 after replacing Francisco Alvarez (thumb) in the second inning of Friday's win over the Dodgers.

Advice: Alvarez was headed for an MRI after the game, but per Tim Healey of Newsday, Mets manager Carlos Mendoza is "pretty concerned" about the severity of the injury. As the only other catcher on the 40-man roster, Narvaez figures to see a big spike in his playing time should Alvarez land on the IL, but that may not result in much additional fantasy value -- since 2022, the 32-year-old sports a .208/.288/.300 slash line in 467 plate appearances with only six homers. Tomas Nido, who was in camp this spring as a non-roster invitee, is batting .345 (10-for-29) for Triple-A Syracuse and would likely be promoted to take Alvarez's spot, but his career numbers in the majors aren't any better than Narvaez's performance the last few years.
