    Advice: Webb was exceptional Thursday, making it through seven innings for a third straight start. The two hits Webb allowed came on the first two batters he faced Thursday, but he managed to retire the next 19 batters he faced after the pair of hits. Webb has allowed two or fewer runs in four of his five appearances this season, boasting a 2.93 ERA across 30.2 innings pitched. He's tentatively scheduled for a matchup with the Mets on Tuesday.     Cobb (hip) had a clean MRI on his shoulder and will throw from flat ground Friday, John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

    Advice: Cobb has dealt with both elbow and shoulder pain while working his way back from hip surgery. However, he's now set to resume throwing for the first time since April 1.   • Logan Webb makes swift work of D-backs in win
    Logan Webb fired seven shutout innings on Thursday in a win over the Diamondbacks.

    Advice: Webb retired a career-high 19 consecutive batters following back-to-back singles from Ketel Marte and Corbin Carroll, respectively, to open the contest before issuing a one-out walk to Christian Walker in the seventh inning. The 27-year-old workhorse, who finished with five strikeouts and only issued one walk, completed seven frames for the third consecutive start in this one.     Buehler (elbow) allowed two runs on four hits and four walks while striking out three across 2.2 innings in a rehab outing with Triple-A Oklahoma City on Thursday, Eric Stephen of SBNation.com reports.

    Advice: Buehler was expected to throw between 80 and 90 pitches, though his struggles with control limited the length of his outing. He particularly struggled with his offspeed and breaking pitches, as he threw 15 combined curveballs and sliders -- only two of which went for strikes. Though the outing wasn't positive, it could come as some consolation that this was Buehler's first time pitching with an automated strike zone, per Oklahoma City Director of Communications Alex Freedman. It's possible that this was Buehler's final rehab outing before rejoining the big-league rotation, but the Dodgers are expected to assess the situation before making a final decision.     The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal reports Max Scherzer (back) could return in early May.

    Advice: Scherzer is scheduled to face hitters again on Friday in a 40-pitch live batting practice session and could progress to a minor league rehab assignment shortly afterwards. The 39-year-old veteran righty has made a rapid recovery from offseason back surgery, which was originally expected to keep him on the shelf until late June. It might be too optimistic to expect him to make his season debut in early May, but it can’t be completely ruled out at this juncture.   • Walker Buehler struggles Thursday in rehab start
    Walker Buehler (elbow) surrendered two runs over 2 2/3 innings on Thursday for Triple-A Oklahoma City.

    Advice: Buehler needed 26 pitches to get through the opening frame and didn’t make it out of the third inning of this one, departing after just 68 pitches. He struck out three and also issued four walks. The big concern here is that he wasn’t able to sufficiently build up his pitch count and might wind up needing another rehab outing before finally returning to Los Angeles’ starting rotation mix.
