• Pops first homer
Trout went 1-for-3 with a solo home run Thursday against the Orioles.

Advice: Trout hit third in the Angels' Opening Day lineup and wasted no time parking his mark on the game by taking Corbin Burnes deep in his first at-bat. He was ultimately pulled from the game early with the Angels down big, but there is no injury issue. Trout has failed to reach 500 plate appearances in each of the last three full seasons, but he should remain an elite producer so long as he can stay on the field. Rotowire.com 12 minutes ago

  • Records three hits on Opening Day
Fry went 3-for-4 with a double, two runs and an RBI in Thursday's 8-0 Opening Day win over Oakland.

Advice: Fry got the start at DH and batted fifth in the order following a strong spring during which he hit .295 with a pair of homers and eight RBI. The 28-year-old scored Cleveland's first run of the campaign in the second inning Thursday, coming around to score on a Tyler Freeman double following his own one-out two-bagger. In addition to his three hits, Fry added a sacrifice fly in the ninth frame to cap the scoring in the contest. It will take much more than one game for him to gain viability in mixed fantasy leagues, though the fact that Fry holds catcher eligibility and may log occasional time at DH in addition to being able to play the infield and outfield gives him some intrigue, especially in two-catcher formats. • Reaches thrice, homers
Biggio went 1-for-2 with a solo home run and an additional run scored during Thursday's win over Tampa Bay.

Advice: Biggio was excellent from the nine-slot Thursday, picking up his first long ball of the campaign in just his second at-bat. The 29-year-old has hit better than .235 just once in his five-year career and has seen fewer than 340 plate appearances in four straight campaigns, but he could have the opportunity to exceed both of those marks in 2024 if Thursday is any indication. • Hits first home run of season
Springer went 1-4 with a solo home run and an additional run scored during Thursday's win over the Rays.

Advice: Springer kicked off the Blue Jays' scoring Thursday, delivering a solo homer off Zach Eflin in the fourth inning for the team's first run. While he wouldn't get another hit, Springer was walked in the seventh and eventually came around to score on a Bo Bichette double. Batting atop a stacked Toronto lineup once again this season, Springer should provide ample fantasy value from the outfield position. Rotowire.com 49 minutes ago
  • Marte scores thrice in Opening Day blowout win
Ketel Marte scored three times while going 3-for-5 and also driving in a run in a blowout win Thursday over the Rockies.

Advice: Marte was one of six players to score multiple runs for the Diamondbacks on Thursday in a contest where Arizona scored 16 runs against the woeful Rockies. Fourteen of those runs came in the third inning, and Marte’s RBI unsurprisingly came in that frame with a single that plated Alek Thomas. The Diamondbacks lineup should be among the better groups in the National League, and hitting at the top of that group should allow Marte to be among the better run-scoring options throughout the 2024 season — even when they’re not playing Colorado. • Gabriel Moreno plates three as D-Backs crush Rockies
Gabriel Moreno drove in three runs and scored twice while going 2-for-5 in a blowout win for the Diamondbacks on Thursday over the Rockies.

Advice: Moreno doubled in a pair of runs in the third inning, and in that same frame he also singled home a run. The Diamondbacks were able to score 14 runs in that inning, and it probably doesn’t come as a surprise that they were able to win the game. Moreno is a former top prospect who looked the part in the postseason for Arizona last fall, and he could be in for a breakout campaign as a 24-year-old in 2024. Rotoworld Today, 10:42 pm

  • Hits leadoff home run
Garcia went 1-for-4 with a solo home run and a strikeout during Thursday's 4-1 loss to the Twins.

Advice: Garcia's home run came on the third pitch he saw, leading off the bottom of the first with a blast over the left-field wall. His homer was the only blemish on Pablo Lopez's line as he shut the door on Garcia and the rest of the Royals lineup. The third basemen parlayed a strong spring into a leadoff role and begins the season with a long ball after hitting just four last season over 464 at-bats. Rotowire.com Today, 10:42 pm

  • Lourdes Gurriel drives in five in blowout win over Rockies
Lourdes Gurriel Jr. homered and drove in five runs while going 3-for-5 in a 16-1 rout of the Rockies on Thursday.

Advice: Gurriel Jr. blasted a two-run shot off Kyle Freeland in the first inning in a game that the Diamondbacks essentially dominated from start to finish. The veteran outfielder also drove in a pair of runs on a pair of hits in the third inning in a frame that saw the Diamondbacks score a whopping 14 runs. Gurriel Jr. also came across to score three runs in an opener he’ll likely remember fondly while encouraging Rockies fans to look forward to the 2025 MLB Draft. Rotoworld Today, 10:39 pm

  • Mitch Haniger homers in return to Seattle
Mitch Haniger hit a two-run homer while going 2-for-3 with two runs scored in a loss Thursday to the Red Sox.

Advice: Haniger got the Mariners back in the game with a two-run homer off Brayan Bello in the fifth inning. He also drew a walk in the ninth off Kenley Jansen, but he was left stranded to spoil his return to the Seattle lineup. Haniger struggled mightily in 2023 and has dealt with a plethora of injury issues throughout his career, but when he has been healthy, he’s been an effective offensive weapon. The question is whether or not he can stay upright for long enough to provide fantasy relevance. Rotoworld Today, 10:24 pm
