  • Tyler Glasnow allows three runs in loss to D-Backs
    Tyler Glasnow allowed three runs with six strikeouts over five innings in a loss to the Diamondbacks on Wednesday.

    Advice: Glasnow had worked around a pair of hits and an error through four scoreless innings before the Diamondbacks got to him in the fifth. A walk and a single put two runners on for Corbin Carroll, who brought both runners in to score on a triple. A wild pitch allowed Carroll to cross home for the third run. Glasnow would complete the frame and was done after five on 95 pitches. He struck out six.   • Throws seven scoreless innings
    Bassitt (4-6) earned the win Wednesday over the White Sox, allowing five hits and two walks while striking out four over seven scoreless innings.

    Advice: Bassitt threw 70 of 107 pitches for strikes and no trouble protecting the large lead the Blue Jays established in the second inning. He's allowed three runs or fewer in each of his four starts in May, with Wednesday's effort being his best game of the year. The veteran right-hander is at a 4.39 ERA, 1.46 WHIP and 49:25 K:BB through 55.1 innings over 10 starts this season. Bassitt's next start is projected to be a rematch with the White Sox in Chicago.     Advice: Caballero had gone without a steal in his last seven games, matching his longest drought of the year, which he's now done three times. He's hitting .278 (15-for-54) over 18 games in May, picking up nine of his 18 steals on the year this month. The speedster has slashed .263/.319/.368 with two home runs, 16 RBI, 22 runs, eight doubles and a triple through 168 plate appearances.     Chris Bassitt tossed seven scoreless innings with four strikeouts in a win over the White Sox on Wednesday.

    Advice: Bassitt had his best outing of the season, putting up his first zero on the scoreboard. He shut out the White Sox across seven innings, scattering five hits and two walks while striking out four on 107 pitches.     Advice: Olson is having a much better month at the plate after a cold start in April, with multiple hits in five of his last nine games. He sent one over the fence in this one, taking Jose Cuas deep for a solo homer in the seventh inning.     José Caballero went 2-for-4 with two RBI, a run scored, and a stolen base in a loss to the Red Sox on Wednesday.

    Advice: The stolen base was Cabellero’s 18th of the season and tied him with Brice Turang for second-most in the league behind only Elly De La Cruz. Those steals alone have turned him into one of the best bargains from draft season so far and as the Rays’ roster crunch becomes more crowded, Caballero’s defense at shortstop is very likely to keep him on the field every day.   • Comes up short in first loss
    Skubal (6-1) took the loss Wednesday as the Tigers were downed 8-3 by the Royals, giving up four runs on six hits and two walks over five innings. He struck out six.

    Advice: In a matchup of elite southpaws, Skubal wasn't able to keep pace with Cole Ragans and failed to complete six innings for only the second time this season in 10 starts, while tying his season high in runs allowed. Skubal also served up a solo shot to Nelson Velazquez in the fourth inning, just the fourth homer off him in 60 innings.     Luis Arraez blasted his first home run of the 2024 season on Wednesday, powering the Padres to a 7-3 victory over the Reds in Cincinnati.

    Advice: Arraez started off the game with a bang on Wednesday, crushing a leadoff 374-foot (96.5 mph EV) blast off of Nick Martinez to give the Padres an early 1-0 lead. He also singled in the third inning and smacked a run-scoring single off of Brent Suter in the sixth inning that extended the Padres’ lead to 7-1. He tacked on another single in the ninth inning just for good measure. With his four-hit attack, the 27-year-old is now slashing .330/.373/.408 with a homer and 11 RBI.     Evan Phillips (hamstring) is scheduled to throw a live bullpen session on Thursday at High-A Rancho Cucamonga.
