• On base five times in loss
Perez went 2-for-2 with three walks in Wednesday's 11-5 loss to the Yankees.

Advice: Perez walked three times in a game for the first time in his career. The catcher has gone just 6-for-33 (.182) over 10 contests in June, but he's shown rare patience at the plate by drawing eight walks in that span. For the season, he's at a .302/.381/.488 slash line with 10 home runs, 42 RBI, 26 runs scored, 15 doubles and no stolen bases, and his 9.0 percent walk rate is double his previous career high, which was in a 39-game sample as a rookie in 2011. • Slow start to June
Holliday is hitting .182 with one home run, one steal, 12 walks and 12 strikeouts in 10 June games for Triple-A Norfolk.

Advice: Holliday is slashing .238/.407/.415 with five home runs, four steals, a 22.2 percent walk rate and a 24.3 percent strikeout rate in 40 games since being optioned to Triple-A on April 26. The Orioles could summon the 20-year-old middle infielder at any point, but his return to the big leagues in the coming weeks is more of a possibility than an inevitability. Due to the fact Holliday spent 16 days on the active roster in April, Baltimore would need to keep him in the minors until Sept. 1 while limiting him to 130 or fewer total at-bats in order to preserve his rookie eligibility heading into 2025. • Struggles against Mets
Garrett (2-2) took the loss against the Mets on Wednesday, allowing six runs (four earned) on seven hits and no walks while striking out four batters over 4.2 innings.

Advice: Garrett was tagged by Harrison Bader for a two-run homer in the first inning, and he gave up three more runs in the second. The left-hander settled down a bit from there, but he was pulled with two outs in the fifth inning after serving up a solo shot to Starling Marte. It was the second straight start during which Garrett was unable to complete five frames -- he went just 2.2 innings versus Tampa Bay in his previous appearance. Garrett was great in back-to-back starts May 24 and 29, allowing just one run over 14 frames. However, he's given up at least four earned runs in each of his other four outings and has a poor 6.10 ERA overall this season. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:26 pm
  • Homer, two hits in win
Hamilton went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and two runs scored in Wednesday's 8-6 win over the Phillies.

Advice: Hamilton singled and came around to score in the fifth inning then hit a two-run homer off Spencer Turnbull in the sixth. Hamilton has been on fire in June, notching his fourth straight multi-hit effort and hitting .333 with two home runs and four stolen bases in 10 games. Injuries have paved the way for Hamilton to receive regular playing time, but he has earned it by hitting .296 with four homers, 10 RBI and 13 steals over 135 plate appearances. • David Hamilton homers, singles in Boston’s win
David Hamilton went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer in leading the Red Sox to an 8-6 win over the Phillies on Wednesday.

Advice: It’s Hamilton’s fourth straight two-hit game, and he’s now hitting .296/.348/.472 for the season. His Statcast numbers aren’t nearly as strong as his actual line, but the improved power from what he showed in the minors is impressive. Both of his hits tonight left the bat at 104-105 mph. • Braxton Garrett struggles in loss to Mets
Braxton Garrett struggled in a losing effort against the Mets on Wednesday night, giving up six runs (four earned) on seven hits over his 4 2/3 frames.

Advice: Garrett punched out four batters on the night and didn’t walk a batter. Most of the damage done against him came via the long ball, with Harrison Bader crushing a two-run homer in the opening inning and Starling Marte added a solo shot in the third. The Mets also scratched out three runs in the second inning — helped by some shoddy defense by the Marlins. The 26-year-old southpaw got eight whiffs on 89 pitches on the night, posting a CSW of 24 percent. He’ll carry an unappealing 6.10 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and a 28/4 K/BB ratio (31 innings) into Monday’s matchup against the Cardinals. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:47 pm
  • Next rehab start set
Cole (elbow) will make a third rehab a start Friday with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, Max Goodman of The Newark Star-Ledger reports.

Advice: The right-hander threw 57 pitches over 4.2 innings during his second rehab outing Sunday, and he'll move up to the Triple-A level as he continues building up his workload. Manager Aaron Boone said Wednesday, "we'll see" when asked if it will be Cole's final rehab start, so it's possible he's cleared to make his season debut for the Yankees next week. • Josh Jung (wrist) heads out on rehab assignment
Josh Jung (wrist) will begin a minor league rehab assignment at Triple-A Round Rock on Thursday.

Advice: Jung spent the morning with the Rangers, where he took live batting practice off of rehabbing right-hander Tyler Mahle, before packing up and heading off to his rehab assignment. Expect the 26-year-old slugger to remain there through the weekend before potentially rejoining the Rangers next week. Rotoworld Yesterday, 4:06 pm

  • Getting day off amid slump
Rooker is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Padres.

Advice: Rooker will cede designated hitter duties to JJ Bleday and get a breather for the series finale after he had started in each of the Athletics' last 14 games. During that stretch, Rooker slashed just .196/.281/.392 with a 40.4 percent strikeout rate, so the day off could prove beneficial while he's in the midst of a slump at the dish.
