• Yusei Kikuchi struggles through three innings
Yusei Kikuchi was pulled after allowing five runs and eight hits in three innings Sunday against the Tigers.

Advice: Kikuchi’s velocity was down 1.5 mph on this fastball and about 2.5 mph on his secondary pitches today, and he failed to record a strikeout against the 17 batters he faced. It was easily his worst performance of the year. Hopefully, the velocity drop can be explained by an illness or something else minor. Rotoworld 45 minutes ago
  • Jordan Romano gives up three-run homer in loss
Jordan Romano gave up a three-run homer to Matt Vierling with two outs in the ninth to take a loss Sunday against the Tigers.

Advice: Romano came into a tie game in the bottom of the ninth, so one run would have ended this. Romano, though, wanted to make it special. The Jays busted out offensively for one of the few times this year, only to lose 14-11. Romano is still 7-for-8 saving games and isn’t in any danger of losing his job, even if Yimi García has looked far better this season. Of course, García also had his first big misstep today, giving up two runs in the eighth to take a blown save. Rotoworld 45 minutes ago
  • Spencer Torkelson goes 3-for-5, homers
Spencer Torkelson finished 3-for-5 with a homer and a double against the Blue Jays on Sunday.

Advice: Torkelson didn’t play Saturday after going hitless in his previous five games. Still, this makes four homers in 13 games for him after he went his first 37 games without one. The problem is that he has just six other hits in those 13 games, and his average has actually dropped a bit during the span. He’s at .218/.286/.358 for the season. Rotoworld 45 minutes ago
  • Roughed up in no-decision
Kikuchi escaped Sunday's 14-11 loss to Detroit with a no-decision, yielding five earned runs on eight hits over just three innings. He did not record a walk or strikeout.

Advice: Kikuchi got roughed up in this one, surrendering four extra-base hits including a solo home run to Spencer Torkelson. The five earned runs are a season high for Kikuchi, who entered this game on a four-game streak allowing two runs or fewer. The 32-year-old still sports a solid 3.25 ERA after Sunday's outing, but more regression could be coming if his 0.74 HR/9 normalizes to his career average of 1.56. His is tentatively slated for a home start next weekend against the Pirates. Rotowire.com 55 minutes ago
  • Launches ninth homer
Tatis went 1-for-4 with a solo homer in Saturday's loss to the Yankees.

Advice: Tatis provided the only offense for San Diego on Saturday, launching a solo shot off Luke Weaver in the bottom of the eighth for his ninth home run of the season. The star outfielder has hit safely in seven of his last nine games, though he hasn't registered more than two hits in either of those contests and is still batting just .253 (22-for-87) in May. Tatis has scored and driven in a run in three of his last four games. Rotowire.com Today, 8:34 am
  • Springer, Kiermaier not starting Sunday vs. Tigers
George Springer is not in the lineup for Sunday’s tilt against the Tigers.

Advice: Both Springer and Kevin Kiermaier are not in the lineup for the series finale against the Tigers. Daulton Varsho is handling center field while Cavan Biggio gets the start in right field. Rotoworld Today, 7:17 am
  • Not in Sunday's lineup
Springer is out of the lineup for Sunday's game at Detroit.

Advice: Springer started the first three games of the series but will sit for Sunday's finale after going 1-for-11 with an RBI and two strikeouts. The 34-year-old's numbers for the campaign aren't much better as he has a .537 OPS through 46 games. Cavan Biggio will take over in right field and bat ninth. Rotowire.com Today, 6:38 am
  • Three hits including homer
Westburg went 3-for-4 with a solo home run in Saturday's 5-3 win over the White Sox.

Advice: The O's did all their scoring in the eighth inning, and Westburg slugged the last of three Baltimore homers in the frame when he took Michael Kopech deep. It was the 25-year-old infielder's first multi-hit performance since May 15, snapping a 4-for-29 (.138) swoon. Despite the mini-slump, Westburg sports a .285/.342/.508 slash line on the season with eight homers, five steals, 26 runs and 31 RBI in 48 contests. Rotowire.com Today, 4:41 am

  • Secures save No. 14
Finnegan struck out one batter in a perfect ninth inning against the Mariners on Saturday to earn his 14th save of the season.

Advice: Finnegan dotted the inside corner to strike out Cal Raleigh before getting both Mitch Garver and Julio Rodriguez to ground out. With that, Finnegan is now up to 14 saves, two behind Emmanuel Clase and Ryan Helsley for the MLB lead. His last save prior to Saturday was May 14, as he went a while without being used and squandered a save chance, but Finnegan has only strengthened his grasp on the closer job in Washington with his performance this season. In turn he's also given the organization leverage in trade talks that will inevitably take place this summer. Rotowire.com Today, 12:55 am
